measurement for pass-through door on 2499

Can anyone provide a height measurement for the outside pass-through door on a 2499? I'm looking to store a small generator in there and want to see if a Honda or Yamaha will fit - hopefully on a pull-out tray! THANKS!

I'm not sure of the exact number, but I think it's only about 10". A generator will never fit in there.

Steve,

Mike's right, that compartment door is not big enough for a generator, even the 1 KW models.

What kind of tow vehicle are you using? If you have a pickup truck, you can use a Rubbermaid Roughneck tote box inverted over the generator to completely protect it from severe weather. I have done this with my 2KW Honda generator for several years with no problems. It is even possible to loop a chain and lock through the handle of the generator before you put the tote on for extra security. Once the tote is in place and other stuff is packed in around it, the generator is totally invisible and well protected from the weather.

These three packers will fit neatly between the wheelwells of a pickup truck (49" space.) As you can see, with the tote in place, the generator is not visible at all. Interestingly, the three packers are all the same height so it is possible to pack other gear on top of them, nice and level.

Actually, Kitty has her Onan Generator mounted in the front storage hole of her T2499. But that brand is wide and narrowing as opposed the Honda tall and thin. She has a pic of it on here somewhere as I remember seeing it.

Steve, nice trick with the Rubber maid tote. I'll have to remember that one.

Kitty's genset (Onan Camp Power 3600 LP) is built in custom. Sunline used a special larger vented door for it:

Honda generator in T2499

We store one of the Honda EU1000 generators in the front storage area of our T2499. We have to tilt it to get it in and out but it fits upright between two of the ceiling trusses which help to keep it from falling over.
