LP Gas Detector

Dear nit picky knowledgable members,

We have been driveway camping for the last two weeks due to DW having major surgery done and using the coach as a recovery room.

We have a Protechtor series 2001 LP Gas detector that came with the T-2499. Last night it started chirping and displaying a steady yellow light. I reset the system as per the manual. The manual calls this a " Non-Microcompressor Componet Failure ". Can anyone give me a more specific reason or have this happen to them ? Do I need to worry now or wait until this happens again ? Of course the two year warranty expired this spring.

Any info would be great.

Bobo

I know these things aren't cheap but they are necessary. With what you know so far, how could you ever trust it from now on. I'd replace it and eliminate all uncertainty.

Just curious, did you have anything placed in front of the detector? I once placed a box in front of it and it chirped and displayed a light for a lack of air flow. Once the box was removed all was well. I know now not to place things there anymore.

Makers Mark,

Yes there was some balloons DW got as a gift that had settled in front of the detector. I will keep an eye and a ear toward the situation.

Thank you for the information.

My wife had to stop using the pressurized hair spray cans as every time she would use one the alarm would go off. Thought we had solved the alarm problem but it came back one cold night as we were inside playing cards. I was having a dram of JD when the alarm went off. Pulled the fuse checked around no problems, fanned the sensor with a magazine and put the fuse back in, all’s quiet. Poured another JD had a sip off went the alarm. Fanned it again with a magazine and it stopped. No sooner got back to the game off it went again!! This time down on the knees to sniff around the sensor, nothing, but the alarm had stopped. I noticed some dust in front of the alarm so I decided to blow it away. Yep you guessed it the alarm went off again and the light went off in my head. Not only is it a fume alert it also lets me know when I have had enough JD to drink.
