How to lock stovetop cover??

On my "new" 2002 2363,I can't figure out how to keep the cover for the stove in the upright position to cook..I gave up and was going to just remove it, but then I noticed a sticker that says to make sure it is up and locked into place before cooking----so how do I lock it in the "up" position? I fold it back and it just wants to fall forward again...Thanks...Janalee

That cover can be a bit anoying at times. You lift it up, and it hinges in the middle and when it is vertical you give a little push down verticaly toward the counter. ..... then it sticks when you lift it up again to fold it down flat onto the stove.

Not sure if that is clear .... maybe I'll try a picture tomorrow.

Janalee, mine is the green fabric.

I looked at the stovetop this morning and it doesn't really "lock" up, it just leans back against the wall. You do have to lift a bit to get it to fold back down.

Okay..so mine doesn't even lean against the wall like most do--just sits straight up but folded and you can't let go of it....guess it will come OFF after all. Thanks anyway...Any mods you may have done that will interest me Gene? I did make a silverware divider for my little top drawer under the sink--just bent heavy cardboard into shape to try it and decided it was just fine! Janalee

Stovetop cover and tires...

I examined my stovetop cover and found that the hinge provided was about 3/4 inch too short--could have beefed it up but decided to just remove it altogether..Also,as I suspected, the stove shows absolutely NO signs of ever being used...so,the cover is NEW and I may be tempted to sell it to someone with that model stove, providing they pay shipping of course. (ANY OFFERS? retail is listed at about $50.00)Otherwise, I will let them go with this unit IF I remember where I put them at that time...Lol! I AM 70,ya know!
I also examined my tires..DOT stamp shows them being 10 yrs. old this Sept...I really paid top dollar for this unit (don't ask) so am not amused by the possibility of buying new tires for Fall trip to Florida. (P.S. Don't ever sign contracts to buy if you have had anesthesia that morning!!! Makes for a higher price!!) Lol! Not sorry though--I have a fantastic condition unit! Janalee

Now that you removed the stovetop cover here is a picture of mine, it does lean back and almost touches the wall.

Thanks Gene..your hinge bracket where it screws to the stove is either longer than mmine OR the factory also beefed it up...that was the difference holding mine back...However,although the covers LOOK nice, I find them to be another item to clean etc...I will put a dishtowel and tray on top. Thanks for your help and sorry you had to pull out the camera...Janalee
