help ID my Sunline?

Hey y'all - I just bought this old Sunline travel trailer and I was hoping you could help me narrow down what year/model it is.

17ft length including trailer hitch

Approx 8ft tall

Sadly the inside was gutted so I don't have much to go on. The bathroom wallpaper might be original, it's a yellow forest design.

Welcome and congrats on your new Sunny!

Can you post pics of the back, left side (drivers side) and the front? From all 4 sides we most times can back into what year and model from the, outside graphics, widows, doors, and vent locations on the outside walls. We have sales brochures for most all years of Sunlines and we can match it up. You can help look too.

We can also back into a year from the VIN number. The model though is not part of the VIN.

To get to the files section, you need to be logged into the forum.
At the top of the forum are tabs, look for the word "FILES" click it.

Once into the files section, scroll down to the "Sunline Brochures" section. Go in there and find a sale brochure for the camper you are looking at and down load a copy. Suggest you start around 1980. The colors and graphics on the one side looks close.

The striping, decal colors and design are the same as my 1983 Sunline.

Yes we had a 1982 with the same stripe package is the bathroom location across the trailer from the front door ?

Hello all. I just bought a sunline Solaris. The data plate is damaged and the year is missing. I looked up how to decode the vin but I’m not sure how to fine out the year. I was fortunate to get it super cheap the front 3/4 of it is close to perfect. The back 4-6 feet however need a lot of love. If someone could help me out. I’d really appreciate it. Thank you. My plans are to replace the floor back wall and a section of roof. And turn what was the bathroom into a closet/storage area for now. And cap off all the wiring and plumbing that’s in that went to the bathroom so I can convert it back to a bathroom at a later date.

It looks like you have a real project there. This is the place for Sunline info.

The VIN you provided comes out as 1996 camper. BUT, the green strip on the top of the right side wall siding points to it is a 1997 model year camper. A 1996 model year would be a marron strip on the top and yours sure looks green in the one pic.

Meaning, it may be a 1997 model year camper built in later 1996. Sunline rolled the model years close to mid year, so they where making 97's mid way through 96. And flipped to 98 model years mid way through 97.

I will get with the Sunline historian guru, SunlineFan and see if the VIN is manufacturing date or model year date.

If you need other how to fix or build the back half of the camper, ask away.

I connected with SunlineFan, the camper is a 1996 model as the VIN is model year.

As to the green and maroon strip, not sure on that. It may be Sunline did not update all the pics in the 96 brochure as some of the 96 Sunlines had the green strip.

Just coming back to the stripes in the 1996 catalog mix up for those of us with inquiring minds that need to know....

Learn something new all the time on Sunline owners club.

Your camper is a 1996 model. In 96, Sunline changed the graphics on the sides of the camper, the prior 95 etc. had a maroon top siding strip on the sides, the 96 to 2002's have a green stripe. And the side center decal stripe pattern had maroon on the bottom and green on top in pre 95's. In 96 all the way through 2002, the top siding strip was green and they flipped the mid side decal colors to have green on the bottom and marron on the top.

The identifying issue for me was the 1996 brochure, the cover page is very dark and hard to tell the top stripe what exact color it was. So I went to the back page of the brochure in the options section and saw clearly the marron top siding stripe and "thought" that was correct, wrong! Sunline never updated many of the pics in the options section to reflect the 96 changes. All the way until 2002 some of the options still had the wrong colors in them, yet the front cover page was correct. In 2003, the entire graphics package changed and options were morphing into standard features and the options page got fixed.

It's Sunline history now as to why did they not update the options page with the correct colors for the years, and we may never know for sure. When we see a Sunline going down the road, some of us can spot what year, floor plan the camper is by the outside color, tan, white, light gray, the graphics and the window and roof items locations. I'm not as good as SunlineFan is, he is the guru of picking out a camper and knowing the year and model, but today I learned some more Sunline history.
