Fresh Water Tank

I had a bad smell coming out of my faucets from the fresh water tank. I saw the shurflo directions for sanitizing with bleach which I did. A friend also suggested I check the filters. I do not see any filters anywhere. It is a 1990 T-1550 with a shurflo 2088 pump. Anybody know if there are filters here somewhere?

Is the smell: Hot water side? Cold water side? Both?

Kitchen only? Bathroom only? Shower only? All?

Based on where the smell comes from, that might give you some direction as to where the problem lies.

Some units may have a drinking water grade filter on the cold side only in the kitchen. You might pull the drawers under the sink and look in there for a filter housing as a first step.

I would also look in the area of the pump and see if there is anything there.

Do you use external filters that hook up outside to the city water hookup? If you do, check them, too.

Steve,

Do you have one of these filters? If you do, I may have to go check mine. From the look of well water that was in the holding tanks, I wouldn't be surprised if the filter was smelling.

Jon,

No, I don't have one of the drinking water filters up under the counter, but I have seen a number of rigs at dealerships with them installed there, including some Sunlines. Some have a separate faucet for the filtered water while others just pipe the filtered water into the cold side of the regular faucet.

I've also seen a couple of rigs with "whole house" filter systems, but they were real obvious and easily located in a large outside compartment.

My personal preference is a whole-house system similar to the ones that JohnB and Hutch showed off in a message thread earlier this year. The filter(s) are outside the rig, and filter all water going into the trailer.
