Dead Battery
Hello guys!! How is everyone's Summer going? Have a question regarding turning off the display on the Radio. Since my vacation days are few and far between the display seems to have killed the battery on my Sunny. Is there a way to turn the radio off? Or do I just need to disconnect the battery every time I park her?
Thanks

Not only the radio but the propane leak detector plus there are probably other ghost usages. I installed a battery disconnect switch which is easy to flip when not in use

Battery
If you have a Dometic refrigerator check to see if there's a a all switch at the top inside of the door that says climate control. If so shut it off when you're not on shore power. It runs a small heater to keep ice off the coils in the frig, and you guessed it, 12 volts. Hope this helps.

Dead Battery
If you look about, I just posted a pic of that fridge warming strip switch a couple of weeks ago in another thread. It is definitely a battery eater.

You can also pull the fuse for the radio. That is what I do when trailer will be idle for an extended time. If you use the battery disconnect, remember to turn it back on if you want converter to recharge the battery.

Thanks for the advice! I think I will be putting a disconnect in once I figure where to put it and what type of disconnect I want.

Take close look at battery switches from Blue Sea. Very high quality.
I recommend that you get the version for two batteries. It is only a couple of dollars more. That way if you decide to upgrade to dual batteries you won't have to buy another switch.

The amount of current the batteries deliver to the camper is pretty low two batteries will be be higher current in the long run but the demand will still be low so any disconnect switch will work fine the system is protected by a 30 amp fuse most disconnects are good for at least 100 amps. Some thing like this is super simply and no wiring required. https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-ID220S-6...connect+switch

The only problem with one of those is Everytime you want to disconnect you have to open your battery box and it's probably strapped down so you be undoing strap all the time. Where one mounted outside battery box is easier to flip on and off.
When adding a battery disconnect you want to break the negative lead not the positive.

There is some logic in disconnecting the ground but is more common to turn off the B+ or the hot side of a house hold light switch. I don't think as often as one would turn off the batteries the post switch would be an issue. I use the on board charger year round (yes it's a 3 stage) so they stay connected I hate to reprogram all the stuff on my radio it's pretty complex not just the memory stations and it also keeps them from freezing.

I can see breaking positive on household light switch because contacting center of a live light socket could zap you good because you could become the ground

We kill the B+ on the rally cars emergency battery shut down. With no B+ there can be no sparks on some thing with more than one ground or a body part jamed into the battery.
