Bunk Bed Weight Limit

Can anyone tell me what the weight limit is on a stacked bunk bed for a 1996 Sunline saturn 24A? When we purchased our trailer, our son was only 5 so it wasn't an issue. But now that he is a teenager and growing into a young man, I'd like to make sure whether or not it is still safe for him to be sleeping in the upper bunk. I've searched the forums and the manuals that came with he trailer, but can't find anything. I appreciate any info you can give me. Thank you!

I can’t say for certain on your camper, but I’ve seen a lot of bunkhouse campers that have a 300 lb weight limit sticker.

I've never seen a published weight limit on them, but 300 sounds about right. The only limit I've seen is for the fold down cabinet bunks @ 100 lbs.

Of course it's best to use judgement on full bunks- they are just made of wood, there's no steel reinforcement that I'm aware of. So if the trailer has any rot in the walls, the bunk won't hold up as much.

Thanks you! If that's the case, he should be good for a while!

Yeah, hopefully he won’t get to 300 lbs, and if he does I doubt he’d fit. [emoji3]

Agreed. I was on the bigger side when I was a teenager (still am, lol), and I slept in the upper bunk of my 2251. At first I could do it much easier, but then I grew an inch or so and sitting up became impossible.

At least I got to live my dream of having a bunkhouse Sunline for a short time.
