Awning

I have a T-1677, 1986 Saturn with no awning. It appears to have a "slot" for one to slide into. Any suggestion on putting an awning on this camper?

Hi Dick
You have two option. One is the standard type, usually a Dometic brand that has 4 brackets that screw into the side of the camper. The other is sometimes call a bag awning.
The bag awnings are less expensive, easy to install, but more work to open and close.

Here is the bag awning Johnnybgood was talking about. They work on small travel trailer campers and popups. https://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/campout/

Since your camper is only 16' 10" long bumper to ball, the actually gutter rail to hold the awning could be in the 8 to maybe 10 ft long. Measure yours and start from there. And check how much clearance there is from the gutter rail do the top of the entry door. The bag style awning may be your only option on a camper that small. The bag awnings seems to range in length from 8' 5" to 13' 1" long.

But, there are some brands of roll up awnings that start in the 8' long range, so if you go that way make sure there is enough room that the awning tube and all is above the entry door. Here is one maybe to look at https://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/fiesta/

Dometic, Sun Chaser 8500 manual series like Johnny was talking about also makes roll up awnings. I just do not know if they make them short enough to fit your camper. Here is a place to start. This may create a lot of confusion as I cannot even find the smallest 8500 series awning. I think it might be 10 ft. https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/pro...-awnings?at=rv

Hope this helps

John
