Another hook up question--electrical

We are using our new TT for the first time soon also--my question is electrical. When we got the trailer the previous owner had an adaptor on the electrical plug--he had it hooked up to his house for us to see. Now when we go to a campground that has 30 amps do we take this adaptor off or leave it on?? I think we take it off because the adaptor is for 15 amps household current?? I just want to make sure, before we blow ourselves up......

you will take the adapter off and just use the plug on the end of the line for 30AMP at the cg......actually the prongs are different on 20 vs 30 vs 50 amp service - just so you won't blow yourself up!

Hang on

Hang onto that 15 amp adapter, there will be campgrounds where you'll need it. We have had a number of occasions where there was only a 15 amp outlet or there was a 30 and a 15 amp outlet and the 30 was being used.

Both of our rigs have 30 amp cords but at home both rigs are plugged into 15 amp outlets and each outlet is capable of fully powering the respective rigs, including the airconditioner on the Bounder.

We do not carry a 30 to 50 amp adapter but in 9 years of 7 months a year camping we have only had one instance where the site only had a 50 amp socket, most of the time if there is a 50 amp outlet there is also 30 amp outlet

Thanks so much--I feel so great knowing I can get an almost instant answer on "dumb" questions!!! I'm loading up now trying to figure the 'best' place for everything...... I've used so many good tips from this site (at this moment our chairs are in the shower with a Walmart shower rod across the divide!!)

A very wise man (my loving Grandfather) always said , "Dear, it is dumb of you not to ask questions"......So Nancy - just ask away!
