2004 Sunline 2363 with water damage

I am looking at a 2004 Sunline 2363. The current owner says there is a soft spot in the floor between the bed and the back wall. He says that the problem was probably caused by a leak in the fresh water tank hose or valve, and that this was fixed.
My question is. Does this sound correct and is there any repair facilities that could repair the damage to the floor? He is willing to drop the price $1000 for repair.
Thanks for any help because I'mm still looking for a Sunny.

Where are you located? Whoops, checked your profile and I see SW VA.

We had two places on our 2007 repaired by We Come to You RV in Central MD. I doubt he could "Come to You", but you might be able to work something out if you can't find anyone more local.

He had to remove the vinyl from the entire living area, cut the under layment, add addtional cross braces, reinstall the underlayment, then when we discovered the vinyl had shrunk, he installed new laminate flooring that we purchased seperately, and new molding. Price was around $1,000.

"IF" you would be willing to tow it up to Gore, VA we can recommend a very very good independent repair man, that will not rip you off. Gore is located just a little west of Winchester, VA

Wayne,

One thing I would caution is that water damage is not always what it seems. Although the seller could be correct, and it is "minor" localized damage due to a slight plumbing leak, he could also be completely wrong and you wind up with a much bigger problem on your hands. To compound this issue, it is very difficult for someone to give you an accurate estimate on a repair like that until they take it apart - with water damage, what you can actually see (or feel) is often only the tip of the iceberg.

Try to keep that in mind as you bargain on a unit with damage. If you are capable of performing the repairs yourself, it's a different story as the materials cost is peanuts compared to the labor. If you are going to have to pay someone for their time, I'd budget at least twice what you think it might cost. After all, if the current owner is so certain that it's "cheap" to fix, they'd be better off fixing it before selling.

There was a thread with excellent pictures some time ago where someone repaired the same problem in a 2363. I still can't find the thread!

Thanks for all advice on this camper. Susan and I have found another 2004 T2363 from a dealer. He says that this one doesn't have any problems and we are going to make a 5 hour drive to look. I guess I really want a Sunny .
One of the reasons I have my heart set on a Sunline is partly because of the camper and partly because of the advice and help from this forum.

Wish us luck on this one.

Good luck on your hunt for the perfect coach. If you have not left already, take the camera. In case some questions come up we can help if we can see what you are up against.

Safe travels. We drove 1,000 miles round trip to get this Sunny we have. And 700 miles for the 1st one.... I would do it again in a heart beat if we had to get a different one. Thankfully that is not a need right now....

John
