Wow, really on a 2003? Did I get that right, you have regular screw terminal outlets in boxes on the whole camper but a speed box with insulation displacement contacts on the outside outlet?

If I got that right, well learn something new every day here on Sunline Club! Never would of thought that.

How did they get the outside weather proof outlet cover to screw to the speed box? Why would they pick that one outlet to be a speed box?

On the 2004 to 2007's, they used a shallow (old work type) box and a normal screw terminal outlet or push in's on the back. Then the weather cover screws into the center screw between the outlets and the 2 end mounting screws. Then speed boxes on all the non GFI outlets. The GFI's have a box that is 1 1/2" deep to match the wall stud and a box extender.

Maybe the 2004 model year was the change over to mainly speed boxes? But that does not fit either, Campndad has speed boxes on his 1997 camper as we can see the pics! His outside outlet uses stripped push in terminals on the back, like the 2004 to 2007's, but not a speed box.

Thanks

John

Terminology Difference. What I call a speedbox is an outlet with NO SIDE SCREWS, only the push in's. Similar to the one in POST #12. On the inside, with the exception of the GFCI Boxes (Kitchen and Bath) all were like this in shallow boxes. I replaced everyone of them with Standard SIDE SCREW outlets. The GFCI's have that "speedbox" that sticks out about 1/2" from wall. Not real crazy about those. Gonna dig in and see if an "OLD WORK" shallow box with screw tab retainers will work to make them flush. New GFCI outlets and use side screws.

Glad you found your problem. I going to say it was probably the GFI so if it happens again replace the GFI. A gfi will protect any thing downstream it is the first thing that receives power so one of the wire is power feed from the breaker the other goes to the downstream outlets. One of your friends should be a simple 3 light plug in tester any decent hardware store will have one they usually are an exorbitant price like $5. I have one in my camper that stays plugged into my bath outlet it serves two purposes one I know I have power and two it lets me see that the campground outlet is wired properly (why hire an electrician when a teenager can replace an outlet). Now that you have found the issue it would be a good ideal to label your breakers (using your new toy) just plug it in and start turning off breakers.
