1986 Sunline Saturn T1550 trailer wheels

The original tire size on my camper is ST175/80R13. I have replaced the tires 2 times since I have owned it. The Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 have served me well but I am thinking of buying the larger 14 inch rims and tires. The Kenda Karrier brand size ST205/75R14 is what I plan to purchase and install. This 14 inch wheel has the same bolt pattern (5 on 4-1/2") as the 13 inch rim. I have the original axle and leaf suspension. This larger ST205/75R14 tire and wheel has an outer diameter of 26.3" and the tire width is 8.1". My question is there enough wheel well height and width clearance for these new tires?

I asked Sunline back in the day if I could go from ST205/75R14 to ST205/75R15 on my '94 T-2251 at the time, and they said yeah, it should fit no problem.

I don't know about your case because the width is quite a bit different. Height will probably depend on how big of a bump you hit.

Sunline did change over from the 13" to 14" wheels and the size you suggested for 1987 models. I'm not sure if they did anything underneath to modify and accommodate. From the outside, they looked the same, just larger wheels.

After checking my measurements and the response to my question I have decided to go with the 14 inch wheels. I will do the change out sometime before summer and post how it all goes. Thank you

I have a 1988 Sunline 1550. I need a water heater and a furnace. Does anyone know where I can purchase those items.

Hi Joe,

Are your old furnace and water heater still in the camper? If you can post the make and model of the water heater and the furnace, we can suggest updated items that may fit in the same camper opening.

If the water heater is still original or has been replaced with the same make and model over the years, it could be an Atwood Mobile brand. The model number on the heater would be on a sticker behind the outside cover. If it is no longer readable, could you post a picture of the outside with the grill door down and the back side of the heater where the pipes hook up? We may be able to back into what you have from the pics.

On the furnace, if original or replaced with the same as the original, could be a Hydroflame, which Atwood Mobile later bought out. So it may say Atwood Hydroflame or just Hydroflame. Your camper, being as small as it is, most likely has an all-in-one furnace where the heat comes out the front of it, not out of ducts and registers. Again, see if you can get a make and model so we can see what size you have. The original is too old to get the same thing as the new ones, which have better controls, etc., but knowing what you have can help with what to suggest. Pictures here also help.

I will say this: a new RV LP gas/electric water heater and LP gas 12-volt DC furnace are costly. If you have access to shore power, the furnace may have a workaround by using a small ceramic-style heater that runs on 120 VAC. There are fewer options for the water heater, but let's see what you have, and we can go from there.

I hope this helps,

John

Joe, if you need help on posting pics,

Here is how to post pictures on the forum.

There are three ways to add pics.

1. Upload pics to a specific post, attaching them at the end of the post.

2. Linking them in from a public viewable web photo hosting service you have.

See here for 1 and 2 https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...html#post86041

3. You can upload pics to the forum in your own personal photo album. Then link them to anywhere in the text of a post. See here on how to create an album. https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...html#post87945

If you still need help, let us know. Pictures go a long way in helping you show what you are working on, and we really like seeing Sunline pictures!

Hope this helps

John

My neighbor has a spare for his camper. It is a ST205/75R14. I attempted to mount this larger size tire and wheel. Unfortunately, there is not enough wheel well height clearance for the larger 14-inch tires. I installed the 13-inch Kenda Karr ST175/80R13 and will stay with the original size.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for reporting back. Good info to help future Sunline friends with their camper.

John
