Ours was like that. Had a little rocker switch on the top of the HW heater, and the breaker in the panel.

I left the breaker shut off at all times because our primary camping is dry, and I did not want the generator to ever power that heating element.

Regardless of how you use your HW heater, it is always a good idea to shut that breaker off when winterizing to prevent accidental power to the element while the HW tank is drained.

Hey Paul...

I replaced the WH in our 311, just after we bought it. It seems that someone else needed the original worse than we did..

The original unit was gas and electric, but we couldn't control the electric from the switch panel. When I installed the new one, it was wired for a remote switch.

If you want an easy access switch.. Turn the WH switch on and leave it that way. Just use the circuit breaker (In, with the converter), to turn it on and off.. It's a lot easier to get to!

WOW!, I can't believe I just noticed this post. When we first got our unit, the dealer told us it was a gas unit only. I only discovered it was a gas/electric unit by accident. i was looking at adding a hot rod element to convert the unit to electric and I needed to get the size of our tank. When looking for the model we I had, I notice it said it had a 1500W heater element. I went searching online for the manual and it showed me where the on/off switch was. As Steve Collins said, we found an on/off rocker switch on the back of the hot water tank. I have since relocated that rocker switch up to where the on/off LP gas switch is for the heater.

I don't think yours would have had an electric combo water heater from the factory, just gas only at that point.

I don't know the F1850 but if you look on the outside of the camper you should find a rectangular door with some vents and a latch that allows the door to open. The water heater will be inside the door. Actually the gas burner is there, the tank will be behind the metal panel the burner is mounted on.

Here is a picture of mine behind the swing down door and inside the compartment you can almost see the styrofoam around the tank.

That is the complete water heater unit. The tank is behind what you see in Gene's pic.

The furnace is a completely separate appliance. You should see a brown metal grate somewhere inside the trailer, and the furnace will go back from there. On the outside, it'll be a rectangular aluminum thing with a pipe sort of coming out of it. It's maybe 5"x3", and usually located part way up the sidewall.

I have a F-345SR 5th wheeler.... The water heater is gas/electric. The electric switch is behind the water heater mounted on a side plate. Also, the gas switch is in the bathroom. Currently the electric part of my heater does not work...going to fix it within the next week or so. Since I am not very familiar with how RV heaters work, I am paying a repairman to install the electric heating element. I plan on watching him so I will know how to perform repairs in the future.

Probably the switch to turn on the bathroom lights...turn the fixtures switches on and then use the little red lighted switch on the door frame to turn them on and off..the light lets you know you left the ceiling lights on and your battery will run down..lol! Let us know if this is it!! Janalee
