Door & Screen Door Repair

I'm fixin to have to repair both the outside and screen doors on my F-1850
Camper. I was wondering if any one has any suggestions on how do this; and I'm wondering if on the screen door if rubber gasket like stuff that goes in to the screen chanels if any one might could tell me where I might could fine it that is shaped like a V rather than the round gasket that you find in most of the hardware stores. The screen door I'm not really worried about the job, but I wonder about the exterior door if there are any little trick or annything special I may need to know.

It helps to know the age of your trailer. Parts change over the years. What works on my trailer may not work on one older or newer.

Those "gaskets" are called splines

If you are convinced that only the V shaped spline will work for repairing the screen on the door, try any decent RV dealer's parts counter. They may stock it. You might also check some of the online RV parts suppliers.

On the other hand, if the shape isn't critical, you can probably find a round spline in a size that will work at any home improvement center.

You will probably want to pick up one of the roller tools used to install the splines. They're available at any home improvement/hardware store for just a couple of dollars.

The exterior door is a fairly easy fix. Once you remove the screws from the aluminum frame around the door, and remove the screws to remove the window frame, the inner and outer "skin" of aluminum will be easy to remove. Then you will find a "wooden" frame, maybe 1 x 2 inch lumber if memory serves me correctly. Inside of the wooden frame is just thick blocks of styrofoam. Make a new wooden frame, re-assemble your door and it should be good as new. ( I used treated lumber when I did mine)

Now, for the screen door, I only know about the "round" splining cord, not sure about the "V" shaped stuff. You will also need the plastic "splining tool" which is fairly cheap.

He has a 1985 Sunline

We have had some folks get new keys pending the lock brand. They find the cylinder number and call and order them from the lock manufacture. Later I will hunt for the post if no one joins in with the info. Out of time right now. I "think" Mack-85 ordered new keys once. May have that one mixed up. One to many posts and campers to remember each.

Search "Keys" in the Repair and Maintenance Forum. Also there is a "Sticky" there with OEM contacts.

There are several posts on getting replacements depending on the year of manufacture.

We ordered factory direct fror FASTEC (FIC Stamped on Lockset) with great service and good $$$.

Chances are you won't be able to buy keys for the lockset. You can get a replacement lockset just like it at an RV dealer though. It is kind of a special one because it can't have a big knob on the back due to the screen door. See my explanation of all these style keys here:

It wouldn't hurt to bring the lockset to a locksmith and see if he could rekey it.You might be able to have him key it the same as your house key.One less key to carry and it's always with you when you need it.

On my '90 T1550 the key number was stamped on the lock. I went to the local RV dealer and they had the key. As it ended up, I replaced all of the locks on my storage doors and city water fill to be the same. So now I only have to carry two keys; one for both locks on the entrance door and one for the storage doors. Not to scare you, but there are only about 2 or 3 different tumblers for every RV storage lock used by every manufacturer.
