The New "Que"

I received a message from Carl Kern today officially announcing the launch of a new coach he has designed based on the Que, called the Takena Curv.

See a video here to take a virtual tour of this exciting new coach!

Thank you for the info on the Curv.

I'm interested in light trailer design.

I wonder why no one does an aluminum frame.

Norm,

Google and/or you tube "Heartland Edge". I dont know if you have seen these yet, but they look really nice and appear to be made well, at least from looking at pics on the internet. I think there is a 19' model with a slide in the 2500 pound range.

A number of manufacturers use welded aluminum framing for the superstructures of TT's, but I don't see any that use it for the actual base frame of the units.

I wonder what physical size and weight (and cost!) aluminum pieces would be needed to replace the steel a-frame and main frame of a TT and still maintain the same strength? Perhaps that may be a limiting factor.

If any of you haven't seen this yet, here's an interesting manufacturer that uses a lot of innovative materials. I especially like their bonded composite roofing system that is completely "walk-on."

While we're talking about somewhat unique and innovative trailer design:

Here's an Al frame--I linked the actual page--use their links to explore the whole site:
http://www.olivertraveltrailers.com/...er_legacy.html

This company also has a special frame design--see the last bullet on this page:
http://www.awardrv.com/products_overview.htm

I seriously looked for a used Award, but they didn't appear to age well. Needless to say both of these models new are prohibitively expensive. I've seen a fair number of Awards--they are made in Canada--but have never seen an Oliver. Both are unusual designs with far more engineering than seems to go into most TTs.

Henry
