Possible serious que issue - please read

I received the following PM from a concerned QUE owner who wanted to alert all other QUE owners to check their units for this issue.

"I have a Que and drove it from Phoenix to NM, and then took it on 5 trips. On returning home, while backing it over a 2 1/2 inch curb, the frame separated from the axle. Don't know what would have happened if we had been driving 60 miles an hour and hit a pothole!
We had an expert repairman check, and it only was spot welded with two small welds, and no bolts, and the axle was welded onto a 1/8 inch piece of steel.
I don't know how it passed inspection at the factory. It is being reinforced as we speak, but you might want to inform other Que owners to check the welds on the frame and axle before a serious accident occurs."

JohnB is on a distinguished road
If any of our Que owners can post a picture of this area would be helpful for all. This may or may not be an isolated incident.

Thanks to Tweety for passing this along and the original PM'er.

One thing that always bothered me is that the QUE frame is really tiny. Cargo capacity is only 500#, which is EASY to exceed, especially with full tanks. If someone's dealer didn't emphasize this, along with the marginal attachment the PMer mentions, that could be cause problem.

Do we know if the QUE with the axle weld problem is a early far-back axle QUE ?
Like the photo below.
I have never seen one (looks ridiculous) to me.
I have not used my QUE for over 1 1/2yrs. because I had major back surgery,so I can't ck mine or take a photo right now.

No idea about the issue above, but Joe, your Que isn't the far back axle version. Yours was built early on in the job 2 style Que builds. Sunline made a few small design changes to the Que and they all started about 20 before yours. These mostly included the new axle configuration, lower/sunken battery tray, different mag wheels, wood face on the refrigerator, etc.

Hi Jon,
Do you know about how many QUEs were built after mine ?
Mine came out of the factory early sept.2006
I just thought that there were not many built after mine, but I don't know how many.
Thanks,
Joe

I know of 38 before and 37 after.

I told you it was in the center! lol

Obviously those don't total 172, but I suspect more of them were built before than after.
