Air Con Problem - Results!

When we went camping in our Que in May, we found the aircon didn't blow cold air. Due to other things, we weren't able to get it into repair until now.

The shop found the unit is leaking refrigerant. Dometic is replacing the unit under warrenty. So the others here with aircon problems, may be the same thing?

Folks....

The Dometic Duo-Therm "slim" model on our Que also died after only about 4 weeks of actual service (See our 07/27 post "36-day roadrun" in this forum). And an exchange for a new one was the only Dometic-permitted solution. I wonder if they've got a long-term engineering problem?

Repairs were done by Scenic View RV in Williamsburg VA. Very honest people, if you need service in this area I highly recommend them.

They had a funny story when I picked it up. Someone had tried to buy my Que while it was in for service. Said it was the quetest thing on the lot.

We were running the aircon today while working in the trailer, it's great! You could hang meat in there now.

AprilWhine.....

Sharon & I have noticed that the replacement "exchange" AC unit runs much more quietly than did the original (I'm not really certain of the significance of this). What's your experience?

We think it's extremely quiet for a roof air, but noticed no difference in sound between the units. New one is much cooler.

Air Conditioner

On our 9,200 mile trip in February and March we noticed that the air conditioner did not work when we got to Phoenix AZ. We had never tried the air conditioner prior to needing it in Arizona. We completed our trip without air conditioning, but never needed it again. I took the Que to Camping World in Tacoma WA this past week, and Dometic provided the replacement parts and labor under waranty. Now if it ever warms up out West, we'll give the new air conditioner a try!
