A/C and Carrying Bikes question

Hi, new to this great little forum. Like many of you we purchased ours in Butler, PA and it was a great experience and we really like our little Que. Being anxious to use it, we took it to the North GA mountains New Year’s weekend and it was rainy and unseasonably warm so we tried the A/C and it would not cool at all. We arranged to get it checked out under warranty with Dometic/Camping World and they replaced a bad thermostat in the unit. On subsequent trips still did not cool very well but it would lower the temperature a few degrees. We set up another appointment with Dometic/Camping World and they found nothing wrong. We are somewhat disappointed in the A/C’s performance and are thinking about replacing it with a larger BTU unit and was wondering what AprilWhine found out.

Also, we have the RE model and my husband is trying figure out a way to carry bikes on it. He said there is strong frame to put a hitch type bike carrier on it, but would require lots of fabrication and the receiver would be between the steps bracket. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks, SusieQue

Hi Susie,

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, can't help with the A/C issue, but hope you get it fix to your satisfaction.

For the bikes, have you looked at Top Pop Rails bike racks. They mount on the front of the trailer off the tongue. This may be an approach approch for you.

Enjoy your Q.
Hutch

PS. You also posted this same topic in the Sunline Community forum, which I've deleted to avoid redundant posts.

Hey Susan,
Sounds like you may still have a prob with the A/C. Our cools VERY WELL! BRRRR!

As for bike racks, there are also pre made bike racks that bolt, or can be welded, on to the frame of the RV(or, I think there are kits to make them frame mount). You can put those on the back of the Que. Or, you could get a rack that mounts on the back of your TV. We can't see out the back window anyway, so a couple of bikes there wouldn't bck the view !

Good luck in your search!

I would hasitate to add the weight of a bike rack and bikes to the QUE. The load carrying capacity of the trailer is only 510 pounds, and that's without any propane or water in the fresh tank. Add propane and water and you're around 300 pounds capacity. We have a bike rack for the truck bed, but this trip we just laid them down in the truck bed under the cover. When we had the TrailBlazer we had a bike rack that hung on the back hatch.

The fuzzy hubby and I have been lazy. We've been very busy trying to sell our house in VA and haven't had time to go camping since early May. We have not pursued the air conditioning problem, but I will come back and post results as soon as we find out the cause.
