We've been busy!

http://

We removed the inner shower dome and put up white formica to cover the raw wood - what we couldn't cover - we painted. I hated to see all that wood when I showered in the morning! Oh and can you tell what new shower head we put in?

http://

In the newer T2499's Sunline did away with the cabinet over the corner cabinet by the door......we added a shelf which works for us - sometimes it acts as a TV shelf and most times - it becomes the shelf to hold the JD & Vodka

http://

Hard to reach space over the couch is now so much easier to access!!! My cabinet lady said the color will match after a year - I hope she is right!

http://

Same idea but over the bed - John B - you made me do this one!!!!!

http://

This one started out as storage space BUT I think it will be the dirty clothes hamper next year.....we are always moving the "mess hamper" and this just might be the fix!

We have done other mods but I can't always find my camera or is it I keep forgetting to take pictures...anyway - they will have to wait until next year when we take the camper out of storage!

So what do you all think???

Wink

Kathy & Leo,

You guys HAVE been busy. What was that? - - Four projects? The
additional doors should be very handy. AND - there HAS to be a place to
put the booze!

I'd say that the combination of your projects added up to a lot more than
ours did (the recliner chairs). For the most part, with the obvious exception
of the chairs, we are really, really happy with the way our trailer is laid out.
Everything seems to be in the right place, and convenient for our needs.
Even though Sunline shut down the very moment we purchased, it seems
that we were in the right place at the right time, none-the-less.

Marie and I have committed ourselves to the September M&G. Seems
like a nice stop off between Michigan and the Blue Ridge Parkway! We'll
be posting as soon as we finalize the details.

Dennis

Which one - Rochester or Nick's Lake (Old Forge)????

Thanks for the thumbs up......on the mods! Yes those cabinet doors free up lots of "lost storage" and the drawer I think is going to work out well as a hamper - moving that mesh hamper around gets to be a real PITA!

Having seen Poppy and Nana's mods in person this Sept at the Southwoods M & G, I can attest they are GREAT!!! Nice job!

However the over the bed door.... well, we can thank Kitty for that one. She started the mod fest with that door.... Sort of like Monkey see, Monkey do or in this case, Camper see, Camper do...,LOL...

H'mm your shower dome. I wonder if Sunline changed the steam dome brand inside. On my 2004 units the steam dome is white enough that the wood behind it does not show that much. Learn something new every day here on SOC.

Thanks for sharing. We always like pics.

Talking Rochester It Is

Kathy & Leo,

Although we are still waiting for the campground to call back for
confirmation, its the Rochester M&G that we'll be at. Honestly, we
didn't see the Old Forge M&G on the SOC calendar. Does it show up
somewhere else on the site? What are those dates?

We suspect we won't be able to make both, since we'll be passing
through enroute to the BRP and Smokys. But our current plans are to
make Rochester.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes!

Dennis & Marie,

Please keep us (Kitty & Gary) in mind when you start to head south as we are only 6 miles west of I-81 in West Virginia and I am guessing that you will be using 81 to get to the Smokies.

Found Gerrardstown on MapQuest

Hello, Kitty and Gary,

Nice to meet you guys. We found Gerrardstown on the map, But I had to
make MapQuest zoom in pretty tight for you to show up. Yes, we'll be
passing through on 81, headed for I-66, Shenandoah NP and Mathews
Arm cg. Seems to us that stopping by for a "mini-M&G" would work!

Seems like we are rather sorry to see winter come. Here we are, already,
planning for next year, 10 months away. Planning is half the fun, don't
you think? Our "plan" at the moment is to spend 3 ro 4 weeks on the
Parkway, really chilling out, and waiting for the autumn color to catch up
with us.

And, BTW, I've been curious: as a retired railroad dispatcher, I HAVE to
ask: The "EMD" that Gary "Drives", does it have 8 wheels, or 12? Do I
assume correctly that this is what that refers to? Not something that
everyone would pick up on, eh?

Thanks for being in touch. As the year unfolds, we'll work out a plan to
catch up with the two of you.

Talk again soon.

Dennis & Marie

Kitty sorry I gave John B credit for the bedroom overhead cabinet door - the kudos's go to you!!!!

No matter who shows a mod, who has done it first, who copies and who mods to a mod.....we all take away important ideas from this site....just gotta love it!!! Thanks everyone!

Kathy,

Not a problem, I post my mods so others can utilize them if they so desire. But, now your "modding" has rang a bell in my head. I have a door of Pam & Steves that I have to have cut down for them, and I have forgotten it in the 5th wheel. I will get that out of there tomorrow and over to my woodworker next week.

Still have a few more mods to do to Sunny, but they might not get done until spring.

I have done a few mods in the the 5'er, but need to take pics and then get them posted on here. Tomorrow is "Greyhound Meet n Greet" day for me, then hopefully I will get new coat made for "DD" for her first trip to Pigeon Forge, TN. Hum, I might even make KD & Harley new coats.

Kitty - when the door maker was making the doors/drawser - she originally made the drawer way too small.....so we are going to add the front of it below the couch to access the water heater...have all the hardware now we need the time.....

John - I don't remember the shower dome being translucent in the 1950 but it is definately translucent in the 2499....I just thought it was not attractive to say the least...

Going to NYC with a bunch of friends on a bus trip in a few hours...not exactly my idea of a weekend mini vacation BUT.....I'm going! I worked in NYC for many years and now some of the ladies want me to act as tour guide....NOT....the one good thing is we are staying in New Jersey and bussing over to the city each day!!!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

All the ones we have (6) have eight wheels and are 1950's vintage... We never see any of the "modern" units from the 60's and up and probably never will..

Smile 1:1

Gary.

1:1, eh? That's some serious stuff!

I was checking the map in your part of the world. W & W your outfit?
I see that they are close to home?

Let me say that this business is a great gig to be retired from! It was
a good run, but it takes its toll. You know, the guy in charge usually
gets hammered. Good retirement benny's, though.

Talk soon.

Hey Dennis... Sorry for hijacking your thread....

I do work for the W&W. We have a whopping 54 miles of track. They keep our speed limited to 10MPH, to keep from having to deal with all the federal regulations associated with higher track speeds. Not to mention, the condition of our jointed rail. It is getting a bit better, but our current roadmaster doesn't believe in tightening the joint bolts. It makes for a rocking trip.. The railroad is owned by Unimin and was bought by them, to get sand from their plant in Gore, VA to various industries needing it. We also have several other industries along the line and things are busy right now.

Threads Made For Hijacking

Hey, Gary,

Yeah, I think Poppy and Nana started this one!

Hey, Kathy, Leo, permission to hijack your thread? OK, thanks! I hoped
you were done with it!

Thanks for the info Gary. I recognize the issues that you were talking
about. We dealt with all that stuff, only on a much larger scale. (NS,
Dearborn Division.) Big or small, at least its an income and a living.

If we see you in September, we can compare notes.

Dennis

No problem hyjacking the thread BUT when you need to refer to something and a thread has been hyjacked....it makes it very difficult to find what you are looking for!!!!

I know been there and done that!!!!
