T-1550 fold down bunk's

Hey guys brand new here. Just bought a 2001 T-1550 Sunlne and Im wondering if anyone has done anything to add support for the fold down bunks. Im a bit skeptical on allowing one of the kids to sleep up there. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

I had the same fear. Eventually decided to just remove the fold down extension and turned it into clothing storage space.

I removed the center section flipped the front section up and secured it so I now have two large doors with storage and ample room over the bed to get in and out.

If it wouldn't be to much trouble it would be greatly appreciated.

Cabinets

I removed the center section retained the hinges fastened them to the back section flipped the front section up. It is fastened the the ceiling from the inside (so it can't fall down) I used a tie plate (hardware store) flat piece of metal with a dozen or so screw holes easily bendable on the back side of the cabinet face and to the ceiling.

I'll explain the hinge arrangement a little better, when the center piece is gone the front panel is fastened the the rear one and basically you just set it up right as it would normally. It is just too much in the way with 3 panels.
