Snaking wires for the outside?

When my GF and I finally pick up our Sunny I want to run some outdoor speakers and wires for some LED's. My question is what is behind the aluminum siding and what should I use to seal the holes off? I tried YouTube but there wasn't a whole lot of info?

I will be running some color changing led strips.

Insulation is behind the siding. Looks like this

The siding is very thin. Think aluminum roof flashing thick. The siding is stapled to the studs which have insulation between them. Behind the insulation is the 1/8" luan wall board of the inside of the camper.

Are the speakers going to be mounted permanently to the camper or are you going to plug them in using an RCA jack or something?

Same for the LED's.

If you are going to create an outdoor plug setup, there are other ways to do this and not go through the siding. (less leak potential) You can go down through the floor, find a cabinet or place hidden inside, drill and insert a piece of tubing as a conduit chase and seal the tubing to the waterproof membrane on the bottom. Do not go down through by a wheel, they throw a lot of water when towing in the wet. Wire pushes down through the conduit and then you can pump sealant up from the bottom around the wires to seal the conduit closed. Then mount a receptacle box on the bottom edge side of the camper to lift a cover off and get to the jacks.

Just a thought to help spark some ideas.

Hope this helps

John

I want to get some of the LED rope lights that mount on the awning. I was thinking of running them off of the light on the side, run a wire up to the awning. Was gonna get a new LED light fixture with a switch on it to control it. As far as the speakers go I was gonna get some marine grade ones and get some of the 45 deg housings I've seen on some TTs and mount them permanently. But I like your idea of Jacks instead?? If I use that idea I already have some decent speakers that I'm sure sound better than the car type marine grade??

I cannibalized a set of decent computer speakers with a subwoofer, dismantled the case removed the power supply and ran 12 volts to the board. All I do is leave the door open! You could use plastic electrical conduit they come with preform 90’s (a lot easier to get wire through) and an electrical water tight box it will stand up better out in the elements than regular PVC.
