Satellite radio hook'em up question
I posted this on RVNet d have the expertise to solve my problem. My new TT has satellite/cable hookups outside to feed the audio control system (Genesis GT3.0). The outside fittings are, of course, for screw-on, coax cables. My satellite radio's antenna has a small audio male plug that I now plug into the AUX port on the Genesis.
Question: Does anyone make a coax-to-audio cable adaptor? This would enable me to use the existing trailer wiring to hook up my XM instead of fishing the antenna out a window.

Not sure whether your trailer has a rubber roof or not, but if it is a rubber roof, there is no need to put the antenna outside. With the rubber roof on our trailer all I had to do was mount the antenna on a metal plate inside the trailer and our satellite radio signal strength is full bars. Now if you have a metal roof then you will have no choice but to mount it outside. In this is the case instead of going out through a window, depending on where your radio is, I would either look at fishing the antenna through a roof vent or up behind the fridge and through the fridge roof vent and mounting it permanently on the metal roof. I hope one of these ideas works for you.

OK I'm going out on a limb and say no most likely your plug (3.5mm) is stereo needing 3 wires the "F" connectors can only provide two. They of course can be custom made and put in the same plate as the TV/cable connection, they do make panel mount female jacks for the 3.5 mm plug.

I believe the wire from the antenna to the receiver may be two wires. The output from receiver to amp is three. I've seen adaptors from coax to RCA plug, just not the smaller plugs.

Are your TV hookup connectors directly behind one another? They do sell male to female extensions for the stereo 3.5 mm plugs just drill holes in the plate or if you don't use the TV stuff take the jacks out. I'm the kind that some thing like that would bother me and I spend countless hours getting the parts and making some thing.

Carefull here. I tried to use coax and soldered the wires together to my Sirius antenna wiring and it didn't work. I called Sirius to ask for an adaptor and they said coax had an entirely different impedence and probably wouldn't work.
I ended up putting a hole in the side of the camper with a sleeve and cover to pass the wire and connecter through. I used a pole with a directional antenna that I put up each trip.
My newer unit has a built in small antenna on the roof for the Sirius/XM. I love satellite radio camping where radio is scarce for news, classic radio, music, NPR, Car Talk, Prairie Home Companion, etc with the "Mostly Music" package for 6 months a year. I do have it all year in the car where it seems to be stuck on the 60's music channel.

I think I'll buy a home antenna, mount it on the roof and sneak the wire in somehow or else just keep passing the wire out a window like I've been doing.
I've recovered from my mod bug bites.

I might have mis-understood your question. My Rockwood has a Genesis 3.0 and outside there is a Satellite/Cable hookup. Those are for TV not radio. I have a small Satellite Radio antenna mid roof hooked up to the XM tuner which uses the Genesis as an amplifier hooked up to Aux 2.
My TV has an input setting for Satellite and cable so both can be hooked up at the same time.

OK if you are talking about the lead that goes to the XM antenna it is a special connection it's a miniature SMA it is very high frequency and supplies power to the amp inside the antenna it is not some thing you would have any luck splicing.

That's perzackley what I needed to know. I'll be dropping the antenna out the window in the near future.
