New Steps for 2499
Well, just me with the tools again. The factory step on the 2499 just basically sucks So "I" built a 2' x 2' x 6" box and used 5/4 decking boards for the top, then I built a 1' x 1' x6" box and used 5/4 decking boards for the top (the bottom is totally open on each box). I can now place the small "step" ontop of the larger step and have a nice entrance into the trailer. I hold the two steps together with a "slide bolt" on each side. I "will" have to haul the steps in the truck, but whereever Sunny is, Blue is too. I have the x-pens (3) that I can now fasten to each side of the steps (probably use snaps for this) Hopefully this project will keep the dogs contained so that I don't have to chase then if they sneak out the door. Not a lot of fun trying to catch the 1st sneaker - a minature weiner (devil dog), followed by and quickly passed by a greyhound. I'm in no shape to be a runner Will post photos as soon as I take some and learn how to get them onto new dell puter.

Sounds good. Our Lhasa Apso didn't fare too well with the step when he tried to get out of the QUE. I'm hoping some carpet on the step solves his problem, but it's doubtful if your daughsund (I'm SURE I spelled that wrong) needs custom steps ! Both breeds being kinda long and low

Ah that's how you deal with the winter time blues.... Creative. Good for you. Please post pic's when you can. Curious minds need to know.... We all build on each others ideas.
Yes, we too did not care for the actual stock step. DW has a few other descriptive adjectives she calls it. I hear them each time she uses it.... She has a real hard time getting it out. If you do not pull ours out really straight, it binds up.
So I made one as well. See here in action. When I was trying to decide how long to make it, I thought I made it too long. But after using it, wish it was 4 inches longer or more. It is now a boot/shoe rack etc. shoes on one side, walk in on the rest.
And here is the bottom.
And how I carry it on the T2499 tongue.
And the metal frame to hold it.
And the drop in pins to hold it from moving. Also use saftey bolts on top.
The neat part about this site is, all the Sunline custom stuff all in one spot by so many. This site is just plain great!!
Thanks for sharing
John

WOW John, you should market that and sell it. I'd like to be the first to order one!!!
We both hate our stock step and with our lift kit, it's way to high off the gound anyway. That looks so nice and the rack to hold it is just the icing on the cake!!
Let me know if you're going to be making any more, as I'll order one today!!

This will be one of my first posts on here as I usually just read through after my husband comments on various subjects.
Our step always seemed to be binding up when we were trying to pull it out. Pat used many different greases/lubricants/remidies and after a few miles down the road, the darn thing would be bound up again. We too had various names we probably shouldnt print here that we called this step.
I thought I would test a new product on it and one day slathered it up with good ol' fashioned Baby Oil. It's now been 3 weeks and it still pulls out so easy, you'd think you're going to pull it off the rack. It comes out so fast it almost scares you. This also was a great win to hold over Pat's head, as he had spent all this money on so many different products always claiming "This one will be the key to our sticky step situation"
Now we joke when ever anything is stuck, "Grab the Baby Oil"
Note: I've found it also shines the stainless steel on our stove and the fridge like no other product I've found. When you're done, lather up and go to the beach for that dark tan.
John, If you're selling any of those steps, we'll take one!!
Take Care, Cindy Bonish

Kitty,
Here is your pic:
Basically, scroll down your page where the pic is and there is a box titled "link to this picture". Click on a size (tabs on top, 100-600), then highlight the text in "post in a forum", right click on the highlighted part, left click COPY, and paste it in the message box here.

Kitty,
What are the eye screws for on the steps? I had built a single box step for my last TT. When traveling I put it under the table and stored CD's in it. I don't think I'll need it for the Sunline.

Good Evening Mike,
The screw eyes are for attaching the x-pen to the steps, there is also a screw eye on each side of the door at the very bottom. I just use snap hooks to attach the pen to the eyes. I have a greyhound and mom has a mini weiner that likes to sneak out. So at most places, I am allowed to use the xpen so sneak outs are only into the pen Let me tell you, you WILL NOT be able to run fast enuff to catch a greyhound

You are missing the entire file address. You missed cutting and pasteing the entire addres. I see this part if missing on the end. _fs.jpg
All pics need to end in like a .jpg or a file format that the forum can use.
I searched it out for you. See below for the entire address.
I had to add it in " " so it would not try to post it as a clicking link
All these puter things need every exact character in the right place or eles they do not cooperate.
But your getting good at it!
John
