Kitchen Cabinet Door Mod T-264SR
We love the kitchen layout in our T-264SR, but the overhead cabinet doors are about useless to a 6’ 2” individual. Since they open upwards the door prop holds it open so the edge of the door is right about in my chin. So I am either blindly reaching or ducking under to door to try to get to something. It didn’t help that the door prop was broken on the right one and wouldn’t hold the door open. After camping twice in the camper I knew something had to change.
Factory door layout open and closed.

I removed the doors and replaced the hinges because one was bent. I removed the centerboard by simply unscrewing it. The doors are not square, but close so it is not just a simple turn door and remount. I created a new wider center board with a leftover piece of cabinet grade plywood and the 1/8” luan that had the same matching maple covering as the cabinet. I had a few pieces of this that came off the roof when we replaced it; the factory used it under the bud board in certain areas for extra strength. I glued the luan to the plywood and screwed it to the right door so when both doors are open the cabinet is fully accessible. The extra length of the un-square door was spaced to the top of the cabinet and nicely covers the old hinges holes when to doors are closed.
