While dry camping and using our Coleman coffee maker we realized the temp of the refrig. was going up drastically. We have one of those sensors that tell the inside temp of refrig. The burner under the coffee maker was transferring major heat to the wall of the refrig. which is directly beside the stove.

Felt with thermo topper. Like for a car engine. We wrapped it around a metal sign so it is double. Taped with duct tape. It sits nicely as the range hood won't let in fall forward. Can take down to ride on the kitchen table. Not as pretty as the wood side of the refrig. but it will help keep things in there cool !

Thanks for sharing. H'mm, if your fridge was drastically getting warmer with the coffee maker next to the fridge wall, that is something to think more about. I'm assuming the coffee maker was on the stove top, maybe towards the fridge, when the excess heat affected the fridge. Did I understand that right?

The stove burners are right in this same area, if I understand how this all happened right, the concern being using the stove burners with a large pot the stove.

By chance do you recall how many degrees the fridge went up on your remote thermometer? And was the wall very hot to the touch?

That fridge wall is made up of two, 1/8" luan sheets of plywood, one sheet on each side with a 3/4" air space in the middle. Trying to connect how the heat made it through enough to affect the fridge. If I have your floor plan right, the fridge thermistor (the temp sensor inside the fridge food compartment) is on the same as the stove. That sensor will tell the fridge to start cooling more if excess heat gets in, but it will take a lot of time to change a few degrees of rise.

I have not heard "yet" of this issue. Trying to learn something new hear. Or camper has the stove top next to the fridge too, and many other floor plans as well.

John, It's a Coleman coffee maker. The bottom is a perfect shape to shoot out the heat to either side. Heat deflects from both sides. Can't really put it on sideways to deflect to front and back. If you don't have one, look online at picture of one, a quick search shows what I mean. It raised the temp. from a perfect 34 degrees to over 40. I think this will work well. Although not really pretty. Oh, the outdoor temps were pretty high for early morning as well .

34 to over 40 is a lot. I looked up the Coleman, they now have 2 kinds. One with a burner in it that runs off a gas bottle, the other older one, you put on a gas stove top that heats the water.

I'll take notice the on our stove the next time I cook pancakes etc inside. I have a griddle that goes across the 2 back burners and we see what heat directs itself towards the fridge side.
