handle for bunk bed?

Has anyone added a handle for assistance entering the top bunk? Our oldest sleeps there, but she had hip dysplasia surgery 2 years ago and is a little unsteady sometimes.

Yes, I installed an 18" long grab handle to ease getting into and out of the upper bunk on my 27' trailer, as well as to add some safety for groggy upper bunk kids. The grab handle is white, which is similar to some trim and the "walpaper" panel that we have. It is a painted steel handle purchased from the bathroom fixture area of Home Depot. I used a stud finder to locate the 2"x2" wall stud adjacent to the upper bunk, on the wall shared with the bathroom door. If I recall correctly I pre-drilled the screw holes. I think it had 4 screw holes, so I used Molly bolts for any holes that did not hit the stud. In reality two scews were enough for each of the ends into the studs, and I knew the wall panel would never hold weight, but I myself felt better using the Molly bolts. There is then a painted steel cover that snaps onto the wall plates hiding the screws.

By the way - after a few "I want it open" against "I want it closed" arguments I cut the curtain in half and installed a new curtain rod on the lower bunk. Now the two bunks look like the railroad sleeper cars in the old movies, each bunk having the ability to have the curtain open or closed to their liking.

I couldn't find the picture of one of these installed in a T276SR that I had, but they make these in 60" and 66" versions with a hook on top that catches the lip of the bunk. It is removable and can be stored in the bunk when not in use. Might be a better option than a handle.

Search on "RV Bunk Ladders" for sources.

Before anyone panics, I meant it was the "picture" I "had", not the trailer!!!!

Trailer is very much still a "have"

Thanks, our trailer did come with a ladder that hooks onto the top bunk, so we are good there.

does anyone know the bunk weight limit on the 2004 Solaris 267SR? We are looking at buying one used and don't know. thanks

The bunk weight limit was one of the reasons we bought our 276. IIRC - The 267 became the 276 in '06.

Unlike the hinged bunks, the solid bunks are something like 350 lbs. When we asked about it, we were told no need to worry about it.

My 5' 8" 17 y.o. daughter has no problem with the top bunk, although she has moved to the bottom since my 6'4" 16 year old son has moved to the fold out couch!!!
