Generator mount- bumper

I have tried to find an alternative but the only way I can see to carry a generator ( one of the new lightweight Honda 3000s) is on the back bumper. It will not exceed the weight limit of 100lbs but not sure if there is a way to mount a carrier. The existing bumper is pretty low to the ground ( 2003 Solaris T1950) any suggestions?

Hum I see a weight of 134# for the Honda 3000. Either way even if you have a lighter one I still would not trust the bumper. Maybe get a welder to make a frame mount with a 2" receiver and a carry platform.

The bumper is very light thin steel the 78# hanging over the edge of the bumper is a lot different than sitting on top of it. There are many stories of bumpers falling off or tearing at the welds they just are not very strong. The one I own some where during it's life it came off and was re welded to the brackets personally I think a spare tire mount about maxes it out and I don't think I would want to take the chance of losing a $2000 generator and a bumper. No way to carry it the TV?

No way to carry in TV. I tow with a SUV and interior space is taken up by the dog crates plus I an not really able to lift 80# in and out of it. I have seen adapters that go on the tongue and above the lp tanks but not sure about adding more weight to the front ( I am already carrying a extra couple 100 lbs in the front of the camper in the way of crates and exercise pens) ( I use the camper mainly for dog shows)

With a WD hitch it's better to add the weight to front than rear. can you move some crates or pens behind axle that will help tongue weight? have you ever measured your tongue weight?

No moving the crates or pens. With a 1950 space is very limited. I have not measured tongue weight. But would do so before adding the generator to the front

Agree with Mainah. Almost lost some bikes with a bumper mount. Had a mount welded to frame after that.

A Honda 3000 is not easily moved and I assume wherever you mount it, it will be operating. I've had my gas alarm go off with my Honda 2000 running 8' from the camper on a rainy day under the canopy.

If you haven't already bought the 134# Honda 3000, I suggest two Honda 2000's for the same price. There is nothing you can't operate inside your camper on 2000 watts except the A/C and I put two together on the rare occasion I need A/C and don't have shore power.

Something to consider, in both cases, the power draw for the A/C uses so much gasoline it's only practical for short terms running the A/C and would be very costly for the long term like 24 hours. I found about 1/2 gallon / hour on the two 2000's.

One Honda 2000 can be carried in the back seat of a TV or on the floor of the T-1950 since they're only about 50#.
