Flowerbox and Shelving

I bought a white rubber coated shelf for my kitchen and spray painted it "Flamingo Pink" Definitely adds more storage!

And...I added a Flower box to the kitchen window! I can see the flowers from inside my kitchen too! The flower box was light weight and I used a coconut liner and a new potting mix by MiracleGro called expand'n Gro. Its light weight and holds water. I used S hooks for holding hanging plants to hang from the window..The entire flower box planted is very lightweight

Hi Joan,

Great ideas! What did you use to create the lattice like flower box frame? I would like to do the same for my newly purchased Sunline. I would like add some lemon grass, peppermint and basil to one I created to help keep mosquitos away.

Hello,
Thank you. I love your idea! Not only keeps the mosquitoes away but smells great too! Plus peppermint leaves are great in ice cubes and fresh basil in spaghetti sauce. Yum!
My friend gave me the little flower box. It is wood lattice and could be easily made by buying a piece of lattice. Buy unpainted lattice and you could paint it whatever color you want. I used spray paint primer and then white spray paint

Yup, it is true; the smell will be wonderful and access to fresh herbs for food and drinks is also a plus, as well! Thanks for the idea on how to build the the flower box. You make a great point on the primer too! I would have not had considered it; customizing the lattice color is wonderful idea!
