This LCD TV (19 inch Sharp $149 on Amazon) modification was done in a T-257SR trailer (2007) which came with big clunky TV which took up a huge corner overhead cabinet. I fabricated a new door out of a alder door blank to cover the existing hole. I cut the appropriate holes in the door patterned from the new TV so that I could get the DVD,input cable, computer cable, and power cords inside the cabinet. We use this same TV
in our house kitchen daily so it had to be easily removed from the trailer.
The mounting plate is a simple Peerless Industries Model PF-630 (about $17 on Amazon). I bought three sets , two for the trailer and one for the house kitchen. The hinges for the door are a generic spring loaded "swing-up" hinge available at any cabinet hardware supply house(about $20/pr see photo for details). These hinges almost off set the light weight (8 lbs) TV + door weoght, but not quite. The beauty of these hinges is that they lower the door as it is opened leaving you with an extra inch of clearance at the ceiling for the TV. The TV is 1.78" thick.
An important note: Notice the retaining screw welded to a 6" rod in the photo. This secures the TV to the mount during traveling. There might be a better way to do this ,because it is a tight squeeze for big fingers. Enclosed are three photos. Enjoy. Captain Ron
