External Cable TV Conneciton T2499

This is most likely a really dumb question. But our 2499 has an external cable TV connection, but it does not seem to connect to etiher of the two TV connections inside the trailer. The two inside are connected to the antenna. Is there some switch or something i have to do to get the exteranal connection to the interanl outlets?

Hi Kathy,

At the M&G, we were so busy the whole time that I don't recall our TV ever being turned on! It just had stuff get piled on top of it . But, if it works like any of my previous coaches, it should be connected through a splitter and it shouldn't require anything on the coach side. What you do need to do is go into the menu on the TV and select the source as cable instead of antenna. Then you can do a channel search for the cable channels you'll get.

Kathy,

I had to find out myself on how to do that. I keep the antenna down and make sure the antenna amplifier is off ( the little button on the antenna hookup at the entertainment center. The green light should be off). It's rare that we camp where there is cable . It only took me two years to figure it out.

Thanks for the quick responses. That is what i would think. The only thing is that i hooked up a cable to the external connection, and tested it against the internal connections. I can get zero resistance on ground, but the copper wire in the middle is getting no reading at all. Which means no connectiivty.

You may need to pull that cover to check the wire connections in behind. I broke a 12V plug in mine--why isn't there a standard size for those things??--and had to chew it out with a Dremel tool. The cover plate is held very tightly into the wall by some very stiff coax cable from the antenna and the cable outlet and there's more stuff attached in behind there than my electrically challenged brain can figure out. But to remove the cover you have to tip the top part out just enough and pull up to get all the cables up and out of the cut out. There was plenty of slack in my cables and once I had the cover pulled up against the wall I could pull it down and in a better angle to work on.

Henry,

Absolutely right about the 12V plug receptacle. I have tried a number of them in that receptacle and have yet to find one that fits in there!
