One of my projects this past week was to purchase and install DTV converters on both of our home televisions. Our discount coupons arrived the week before, and we were both anxious to check out the new technology on our existing sets.
After I got the house televisons all squared away, it was time to set up the Sunline for DTV as well. Since we only have two converters at the moment, one will have to shuttle back and forth to the trailer when needed. So my installation had to consider ease of hookup each time we head out and want to take the television with us.
So here's the project. First, the television as currently installed in the trailer. The TV we have completely fills the compartment so there was no hope of installing the converter inside the compartment next to the set.
You can see where I have drilled a 1 1/2" hole in the very back of the compartment's floor so that the antenna, tv, and power cables can get from the converter to the tv:
I fabricated a small shelf out of wood to hold the converter, and installed it in the corner directly below the tv:
And finally, the converter is installed and all wires are tucked back into the compartment behind the tv, ready for use:
There was a previous, detailed thread about DTV in general a month or so ago, and it included information about getting the discount coupons as well as lots of background and purchasing ideas. That thread can be found by:

If you haven't requested your coupons yet, I urge you do so soon. Even if you may not need one or both of them, you probably know someone who can use an extra.
