Dimensions/measurements of TV cabinet in 2003 T2499

Hi All
We have a question-
Does anyone know the dimensions/measurements of a 2003 T 2499 TV cabinet? Or what size flat screen TV can be used in the cabinet?

We would assume other years of this model would be similiar in measurements. We would like to purchase a flat screen TV that will fit in the TV cabinet. We've used a 19" flat screen but think there is extra space for a larger TV. Of course we forgot to measure the dimensions and our camper is at the lake.

We appreciate any info on this. Thank you.

2499 TV Size

The cabinet opening is 21"W by 19.25"H. Assuming you're looking at HD, it's the 21" width that is the limiting dimension.

We have a 19" Samsung HD that measures about 19" from bezel edge to bezel edge. It looks good in the opening and I can still reach in behind to the 12V plug or small items stored in the back without moving the TV. I mounted the TV to the cabinet base using the wall mount that came with it. It kind of locks in which makes it a bit of a pain to remove just to reach in behind. Even though the wall mount is flat on the cabinet it secures the TV very well for travel and we have never supplemented the attachment in any other way for travel. So far this has been successful over 12,000 miles of some pretty rough interstates and massive frost heave whoop-de-doos in the Northwest Territories.

I measured that the same model of Samsung in 22" would fit in by sliding it in on an angle. It would need to sit back just a bit further from where our 19" sits... and it would fill the opening completely. If you want a 22" shop for the narrowest bezel you can find. There are members with much bigger TVs, but the newer 2499's didn't have the upper cabinet and the TV just sits on a shelf. Kitty has a swing out arm on a 22", I believe, that allows access to the back as well as to a built in DVD player.

I must confess that the 19" Samsung is the biggest TV I have ever purchased. As such I'm not hooked on "bigger is better" and find viewing size from the 2499's seating positions to be more than adequate. Access behind the TV and ability to travel with it mounted in place are huge benefits for us.

Henry

Here's a photo just in case you don't have an HD so you can see what it looks like.

Hi Judy

I see Henry already caught up to you. I saw your post earlier today so I did some measuring for you too.

While I do not have a 2003 model I do have 2, 2004’s with the rear living room entertainment center in them

First is the T310SR we have. This floor plan is the same type of rear living room as the T2499. The T310 is sort of an all grown up T2499.

Here it is. We bought this camper used and the TV came with it. This camper may have been special ordered from Sunline to have this larger hole and the TV may have even come from them. The reason I say that is the wrapped wood used to hold the TV in place matches what Sunline used. I have yet to find it sold as I want to buy some. The VCR hole under it is also smaller. The above cabinet and the below cabinet are the same in the T2499, less missing a wheel well in the lower cabinet.

From what HenryJ has I would say this may be a special order TV hole size. Or it was because of the larger camper. Don't really know. That is a 20 ˝” diagonal standard TV in there and the thing weighs a ton. I have bought a 19” HDTV flat screen to go in there but I’m making a custom swinging door mount so I can use the inside for tapes and DVD storage. There will be a DVD/VCR under the flat screen in that custom door in that same TV hole. The VCR shelf we use for sort of junk storage and that junk is the stuff we use all the time and it is super easy access. You can see the pull hanldes on the plastic containers. So since it is prime space, it must stay and the VCR/DVD has to go elsewhere. DW has already spoken....

Here is my 2004, T2499. Seens to be the same as what Henry has in his 2005, odds are good your 2003 could very well be the same. My TV hole matches HenryJ’s

Now to Henry’s comment on size. In the T2499 this is what we used. That is a 13 1/2” diagonal screen standard TV. DW sat on the couch and I sat in the swivel rocker and we had no issues watching TV on that small of a screen. When we went to the T310, it seemed like a monster but in time we got use to it and it became normal. We did test the 19" flat screen in the T310 a few weeks ago and it looked small compared to the 20 1/2" std TV. But to us, the 22" HDTV flat screen seems too wide. Our brains have not yet become use to wide and narrow.... We feel the 19" HDTV for us in the T310 will grow on us and be just fine. We had no viewing issues, it was just smaller then the std 20 1/2" we that already became normal.

KayonKitty has a 2006 T2499 with this same entertainment center. She just added a 22” HDTV on a swinging arm in that hole. I saw it at the Buttonwood M & G and the outer plastic case was slightly larger then the hole like HenryJ described. Since she had the swinging arm she could flex it in and out of the hole. You can ask her how viewing a 22” in a T2499 would be. I expect her to pop in here any time now with some comments. She does not miss many, if any T2499 posts.

Hope this helps and good luck

John

Henry and John,

Thanks so much for your information on the measurements. The info and pictures were very detailed and helpful!

With your info, we can make our decision in turns of purchasing a TV. Sunline friends are awesome! Thanks again.

Hi Judy,

Sorry I'm so slow replying to your post, but I've been a tad bit busy.

I have an '06 T-2499 and my TV opening is 21" tall X 19 5/16 wide. I have a 22" flat panel on a pivoting arm, will look for or take a better photo for you.

Kitty

Hi Kitty,

Thanks so much for the information. John said that you would be popping in soon with info on our question. We appreciate your feedback and really like the idea of your TV attached to a pivoting arm.

Well, delay on the photos, I DROPPED my camera, and the lens es won't extend, so I hunted for over an hour BUT, I finally found the 5 year warranty that I purchased with the camera, so the camera is now on it's way to NJ for repairs. Cost for repairs 10 bux, cost for packing & shipping 32 bux. I'd like to believe that it would be back by next Wednesday so I could take it to the Diesel Truck Rally that I'm going to in Bowling Green, KY BUT that is wishing for a miracle' I,ll try to post photos when camera returns.

OK, photos were on another card, so I got them uploaded so I could post them. You'll note that I do not have the wires re-routed as of yet. My camera is at shop in Springfield, NJ being repaired. Hoping it makes it way back by wednesday as I leave with Gary for Bowling Green, KY July 1st for a Diesel Truck Rally. Would love to have my good camera to use.

This mod is not finished, as I plan to move the DVD player to the bedroom, and the VCR player behind the TV, and hopefully move the radio to the side panel closest to the door, them I'll make those spaces into a cabinet once the electronics are removed.

And here is some more Kitty handi work on her TV. I forgot about this post. It shows the swinging bracket

http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/ph...pic.php?t=2842

Good luck

John

So Kitty you gonna start burning french fry oil in that truck.......

Hopfully the gizmo inventors will create a good way to use alternate energy in the TV's we now have. If all the diesel owners just swithed to biodiesel we would soon run out of bio... Mine will not tolerate any E85 even. So us gasser guys have to find something that works

Kitty,

It's interesting that we both have the same year and model Sunline but we have different entertainment centers. Yours looks like the previous type and mine has the top storage eliminated.

Makes for plenty of room for that 32" HD tv.

Rick,

Yes, we do have the same model year 2499, but I ordered mine with several "custom" options, one of which was the full entertainment center, also the once piece aluminum roof, no carpet, onboard Onan generator, etc.

A 32 inch TV is great, I have one in the house, but the 22" inch is fine in Sunny.

Thanks for the pics, the link and the info. Very helpful. We did purchase a 22" flat screen. It works well with the opening. Now maybe on to the pivoting arm.
