Decal color help

We've decided to bite the bullet and have a local guy make the decals and stripes for the Solaris 250 SR. (goodbye 401K )

Anyway, the previous owner bought the big Yellow Sunline decal for the front rock guard. We'll have that covered by an entire panel with decal incorporated into it as we do not like the yellow look of the rock guard material. But, did the original Solaris have the yellow sun or a maroon sun like the back decal? I cannot tell from looking at the brochure.

We're also having the yellowish door replaced by white as we think it will dude up the look of the camper. With new awning, it should look great.

Here are some photos of the front of our 2005/2006 1950 - the exterior had 2005 colors and the interior had 2006 colors.....

This may help!

Thanks Kathy. That is what we now have as the owner bought one on Ebay. Not sure if the one originally on the 2001 Solaris had that yellow sun. Anyone know?

Just to complicate it a bit, some years had silver edging on the decal around the "Sunline" like Kathy shows in the picture and some years had gold edging. I don't know what years used the gold, my 2003 used silver. The Sun was actually a textured printing like the dots in old newspaper photos. The color faded from maroon to a lighter shade accross the image. I don't have any pictures to show the effect. I know Jon (Sunline Fan) knows much more about the details and the years.

One time in Bar Harbor there was a Sunline in the campsite next to me and up close I noticed the decal was a tiny bit different. The owner told me he had it painted by a sign shop and the texture was something they could not duplicate at a realistic price. From 20 feet away it looked good.

This is the 2002 decal. This also matches my original 2004 decal

See Bubabac's album
Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Bubbabc's Album: 2002 Sunline Solaris T-2653 restoration complete.

This more orange one came on the scene in the 2006/2007 time frame. Later 2006 may have it and some real early 2006 may have the older one. (I think, but I'm sure the orange ins on the 2007's)

See Tourist's album of his new 2007 decal
Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Tourist's Album: New Decal

Here is my 2004 original and then at the end of the post, the 2004 fitfh wheel decal that replaced it. It is slightly different but sure looks a lot better then a 1/2 baked decal

On your yellowing door, have you thought about the white Fuson paint?

How did the decals turn out and how much did it cost? I was thinking about doing the same possibly a vinyl decal. I have no idea how much it might cost. It would be the 02 Sunline Saturn and Slide Room swashes is what I would be looking to have made up. The Stripes so far are fine (fingers crossed)

It just went to the fellow yesterday ! I will post pictures when it is done. We did not like the yellowish door and rock guard so he will do new material on those and new stripes on door and new decal on rock guard. So we are over $500 but that seems fair for all that work.

Debbie, to answer your question, your original front and rear decal was a special shade shift decal made for the 35th anniversary in 2000. Best as I can tell, your guy replicated the border color pretty well. The sun was special though. Depending on the angle and intensity of the light, the decal would look purple/red (as he replicated for you), gold/green, and yellow/orange. It was rare for it to look another color than purple/dark red, and most photographed this way. I have a small 12" sample version of this decal and it's difficult to photograph in all three too.

Of all the Sunline decals ever made, this one by far was the worst quality. I would say 75% of them had either fully peeled or partially peeled off to some degree by around 2005-6. That's why a lot of people would replace with the new ones through Sunline. Now, it's very rare to find an original decal of those still in good condition.

The only one that was worse was the same large front/rear one for 1995. A one year decal that lost all the red color in the lettering almost right away.
