Something that had bothered me ever since my first few days with my coach was the couch. It was mounted too far back and hit the valance, not to mention prevented the blinds from going down all the way. I could pull the couch back forward a little, but then it crushed the blinds, though it didn't damage anything. Here's a few before pics:
Here's the original mounting location, taken by removing the bottom cushion:
So I decided to pull it forward some, but the mechanism is so flimsy that it needed attention. The whole frame is riveted together, so tightening as much as it needed was pretty much impossible. I pulled the whole couch out to service it:
I also found the main springs on either side were under absolutely no tension, in fact they were being sort of crushed when the couch was in the up position. The bolts for the spring brackets were so tight that I couldn't break them with a wrench. I had to get the impact, and that even struggled. I moved the brackets around some to put tension on the springs. This didn't take all the movement out of the back, but it's much better now. I reinstalled it about 4" out from where it had been. Here's the new mounting locations:
I can't believe I didn't take a pic after, but I do have plenty of room there now, with enough to put the blinds down, have it clear the valance, and even have a little spare room for a blanket on the back of the couch. I did take the following pic this evening though after the installation of the new curtains.
