Caulking around the Shower
I'm not sure if this is a Modification but it's something everyone should look at on their own Coach.
After living in our 2499 for the past week, we noticed water outside the shower puddling up on the floor. I took off the access panel in the bedroom to make sure all the connections were tight and they were. Then I started looking around the bottom of the shower where the tub of the shower pan meets the walls. I noticed the caulk around the bottom was there, but if you pushed on the wall, it would move a little which meant, it wasnt a tight seal. I also noticed the slide for the shower door wasnt caulked at all?
I went to the local hardware and purchased 100% silicone and re-caulked ALL the seals in the shower. Since then, we havent noticed any water after a shower. I'm guessing the original caulk hadnt adheared to the base? This is something that everyone might want to inspect before their next shower.

Thanks for the heads-up. I haven't had any apparent water problems, BUT, I sure will check the caulking.

EMAN
Don’t know if this is a T2499 thing or not, but my shower vertical panels where not siliconed at the base from new. (2004)
As I was crawling around it when new, I saw that and said, H'mm that looks odd they must of forgot it. So I too went out and bought the best silicone I could and sealed it up before I ever used the shower. I have had now water issues what so ever.
I do squeegee down the sides of the shower after each uses and even squeegee the back of the Shub shower curtain before letting it retract. I never trusted that wiper deal in the retracting mechanism to ring out all the water. And I leave it open for about 8 hours to dry out before closing. As once I didn’t and then next camping trip I had smelly curtain. So now I wipe every time and wipe out the shower stall with a rag. We also us the shower as a laundry hamper spot s I have to put it back after showering.
Then on RV.net I read something about people cautioning not to chalk it. They said if it is caulked it would not let the moisture out. Now they where not talking Sunlines but campers in general. And me looking at my T2499, I could not figure out what they where talking about as the back of the shower cavity is open to the water pump area where air can breathe.
I have had no issues since chalking and have not heard of anyone again talking about not chalking.
BUT it seems your was not chalked either. H'mm
Anyone have any technical merit they can shed against chalking? I'm not seeing it. And open to know more.
Thanks
John

We had a the same problem with our T-2753 as eman describe. Like eman I also removed the access panel to check all of the connections. In the end, I re-caulked the base of the panels around the pan and re-caulked around the shower door. This has stopped all of the water puddling on the floor outside the shower.

I feel a little embarassed because my DW has been telling me to chalk that area for the past year. I told her that the shower pan has to be higher in the back that the shower encloser side and that it couldn't leak. As I think about it there is nothing preventing the water to run along the edges between the two and back down to the floor. Duh. Now I have to think of a story to tell her why I am now chaulking it. Any suggestions?

H'mm, you have obviously been married long enough to understand the situation...
Maybe try this.
Dear, I'm going to go chalk that shower in the camper. The more I think about this, I need to do this like you said. And just go do it.
The immediate respond will most likely be, "Ah Ha!! I told you that last year."
You know its coming. Just say yes you did and I need to go fix it now.
There is no good way out of this.... This is a slight step better than the "Honey you where right" syndrome that does not ever go away. She will "Always" remember this.
Good luck!!
PS a Good night out for Dinner helps.

MM,
'fes up and give credit where it's due . Emam, thanks for the heads up. Ours went from the dealer to storage so I'll be looking at that seam before we use it.

Mike, you may be right.
Kathy, this is a Mars vs. Venus thing.
In fairness to others that may want to discuss the chalking issue, I will post under community.
Regards,
MM

Just a heads up, after caulking the entire enclosure a few weeks ago, I checked it again and found that if you push on the bottom right where the two meet, the new caulk I had applied was still moving? I had the DW hold the piece's together while I applied a second coat and this time I think we have got it.
You might want to make this a monthly check to make sure the caulk hasnt lost its grip after getting bounced down the road. I'd hate to find a failing floor under my shower in a few months, so this is something I'll be checking regularly.

our 267sr came from the factory sealed with silicone, after we used the shower a few times I noticed that the silicone was beginning to let loose,so I removed all the silicone and cleaned it good and recaulked with a polyurethane caulk, that was over two years ago and not a problem since.personally I hate silicone it just does not have good adhesion characteristics.
