Backsplash Mod

I had clear plexiglass up to protect the wall alongside the cooktop, but I just wasn't really happy with that, so, I made a change, shakey hands and all

Here is the original plexiglass in place, but I wanted something else.

Here is what I ordered from Home Depot to change the looks of things:

These are stick on tiles with some sort of fairly thick self-stick backing on them. Just cut/trim, peel & press. I chose to mount the tiles on the plexiglass since I had it already. You had to inter-lock the design.

Here is one side panel done.

Here is the second panel done.

Both panels done, ready to go out to Sunny.

One panel attached to the wall, I used Command Adhesive strips, I'll have to see how long/well they hold up.

Here is the second panel in place.

And the finished look. I like it, just have to see how it holds up, but I don't cook too much inside anyway.

Wow! Probably a little easier to clean than the plexi too.

Wow! Neat idea to put the tile on the plexiglass so that when you want to you can remove/replace it you can. Putting in some sort of backsplash is a mod I want to attempt, not that we'll cook inside much but want to protect the walls by the stove. Let us know how the Command Adhesive works out in that area.

That looks great, nice job. I agree, putting it on the plexiglass was a good idea.

Kitty is back to mod'ing. This is a good sign!

Looks good Kitty. I'm sure the tiles are a lot more resistant to cleaners too. One accident with the wrong cleaner on Plexiglass and it's frost glass.

Thanks for sharing.

John

That was my idea... I didn't like the thought of permanently attaching something to the wallboard.. It turned out great!

We used command strips to hold up the paper towel holder in the 311. It worked like a charm! The command strips didn't let us down! (Pun intended..)

We've always used the strips to hold the back splash protectors up... They always work..
