Ok, I need to spend some of our tax refund. We'd like to get an HDTV antenna for our T1350. (We have a 10" under cabinet HDTV/CD/DVD/AM/FM installed already.) We've been looking at the Sensar III or IV. Other campers in our favorite haunt sit around and watch TV, using what looks like Winegards like these. I presume they are the "standard". We don't want to sit around and watch TV, but we would like to be able to tune in to some weathercasts when nasty weather is possible.
I have never messed with an antenna like this, nor have I ever installed one. Never cranked one up, either. <G> I'm completely green on it.
Are the below linked-to amplified Sensars a good choice? Do they perform well? (I'm assuming they come complete and ready to install at these prices and are not just the heads.)
HDTV Local Television Channels in Your RV - Winegard Sensar - Sensar IV
WINEGARD SENSAR III TV ANTENNA RV-3095 Amplified - $101.99
The Sunny ceiling is marked for an antenna and has a metal roof. I don't know if it has any support/anchor framing there, but I assume it does - since it's tagged for an antenna. If not, what can I expect to get into and how should I handle it?
I have not purchased anything yet. I'm trying to learn a little something about it before I jump in. Let the classroom education begin!
Thanks for any advice or suggestions. (In the meantime, I'll be looking for some YouTube tutorials.)
