Henry...very fine looking job on this relocation. Are you saying the shelf is the original size, and not cut smaller to fit this spot, just turned 90 degrees perhaps or ? Thank you for the great pictures too.

Bob,
The shelf is turned 90°. It is still a tad wider than the end of the cabinet, but looks fine. I positioned the brackets on the end cabinet to get the maximum spacing, then marked the bottom of the shelf. So the brackets are off center on the shelf, but not visible in a noticeable or klutzy way.

Thank You again Henry. I understand what you did now. It does look like a nice use of an otherwise useless shelf...at least in my case it's useless. I think using small bolts, washers and locknuts, etc is the best solution for achieving a solid mounting..same as you did.

TV shelf relocated to kitchen by previous owner

Just in case anyone comes along to read this thread. The previous owner used the tv shelf to the right of the sink as a counter top extender. When cooking it pops up as additional counter space and goes down when done. It's been great.
I am loving all the great advice, ideas and pictures that people have shared over the years.

Much earlier in this thread, I posted about this mod. Later someone was rather critical about the lack of pics to support the thread. Didn't really contribute to the conversation, but it got me thinking that I might have some unpublished pics of our '99 T-2453 which we traded 5 years ago. I do have them, and here they are:

If anyone is contemplating doing this, go back and read my earlier posts on this. That cabinet wall where the brackets are mounted is just 1/4" luan plywood. It is not strong enough for this shelf. You need to pull the stove (very easy to do - 4 screws and the gas line) and reinforce that wall with something more substantial. I used 1x4 stock and glued and screwed it in place.

Hi Steve, I don't know how to add a picture but mine is to the right of the sink. The owner did it after he bought the trailer in 2005. We've had it for 4 years and have used it without any issues also. I guess we use it with common sense? It's great for cooking but I wouldn't put a tv on it. It's a good reminder for those who've done it. Thanks!
