OK I went to Nicks Lake today and talked to my friend about the "walk-up" sites....best case scenario is to go in Thursday morning and reserve it for 4 nites cost is somewhere around $75.00 divided by 8 for sure Sunline/&friends = $9.50 extra per Sunline site, for the use for the weekend. We would have to park a vehicle on the site and possibly have a tent on it......we have a small (very small) kids tent........

As far as wood...Ted said he could bring wood....if he can get a reservation, if not I'll talk to him about buying some from him...I'll see how much he wants.

Kayaking....well the Moose River is really down from North Street to the Lower Branch however if anyone was interested we could do the:

River & Rail
We would have to be on the water around 9:30 am or 11:30 am paddle 4 hours south and be picked up by the train for a 20 minute (or so) ride back.....those not wishing to kayak/canoe - could just ride the train and meet us at the pick up point! For those of you with your own kayak/canoe cost would be $16.00 for boat shuttle + 8.00 train ticket....if you don't have your own vessel costs range from $32.00 ~$40.00 + cost of train ticket $8.00 adult.

If you just want to do Nick's Lake rates are $20.00 ~ $36.00 delivered/picked up, if you rent for 2 days you get a 3rd day free!

Hutch, I can bring our turkey fryer pot for eggs in a bag!

How about Saturday & Sunday night dinners, each site bring their own main meal (meat) and bring an appetizers or side dish or desert to pass around.....

Saturday - egg in a bag omelet - bring your own eggs & favorite omelet ingredients and breakfast meat if desired .

Sunday have a pancake breakfast...bring your own mixings!

OK what say you all???

I unfortunately will be leaving this Friday morning to visit Mom (no computer) and then to daughters (again no computer) and I don't have a lap top, so I'll be out of touch until October 1st.
Saturday of Columbus Day weekend, I'll be gone by 6am for mandatory EMS classes - I should be back around 5ish.......so I'll miss out on a whole days activities!

Sounds good, the only thing I would add (leason learned from the Eastern M&G), let's set times for meals and start a sign-up list for the dinners.

Suggestions for meal times:

Saturday:
Breakfast - 8am (this will give time for people doing the 10am train ride)
Menu: as Kathy indicated - Bag Omelets (bring your own eggs & ingredients)

Lunch - when ever / what ever

Dinner - 6pm
Pot Luck Dinner (bring own meat, drinks, & place settings)
Dish to pass sign-up:

1. Pappa & Nana (Kathy & Leo) .............. appetizer
2. Sunlinesheri & pwbo1 (Paul & Sheri) .. three-cheese baked ziti casserole
3. mbart5fan (Mike & Judy) .................... broccoli salad or Italian salad
4. PTHutch (Tom and Mary) .................... Potato Side Dish
5. Steve Collins (Steve & Gail) ............... Cake
6. heaton (Harvey & Jan) ....................... Croghan Bologna and cheese
7. canoe2 (Lorie & Doug) ....................... pear salad sound
8. Ted & Kathy .......................................
9. Don & Vanessa & John ....................... side dish surprise

Sunday:
Breakfast - 9am
Menu: as Kathy indicated - pancake breakfast (bring your own mixings)

Lunch - when ever / what ever

Dinner - 6pm
Pot Luck Dinner (bring own meat, drinks, & place settings)
Dish to pass sign-up:

1. Pappa & Nana (Kathy & Leo) .............. appetizer
2. mbart5fan (Mike & Judy) .................... broccoli salad or Italian salad
3. Steve Collins (Steve & Gail) ............... Cake
4. heaton (Harvey & Jan) ....................... Croghan Bologna and cheese
5. Ted & Kathy .......................................
6. Don & Vanessa & John ....................... side dish surprise

Sunlinesheri & pwbo1 (Paul & Sheri), canoe2 (Lorie & Doug) & PTHutch (Tom and Mary) – won’t be there for dinner, leaving Sunday.

Jon,

We'll definitely get pictures of Gail's cake. Steve's already got me guessing what it'll be like.
We'll be arriving Thursday evening so I'll be looking for you then Steve. I'll bring a row of wood in the truck so a fire for the first couple nights won't be a problem.
Hutch, I'll get with Judy to see what we can stir up for dinners. I like the list you posted, of course you're an old pro at this now, huh? What kind of bag do you cook the omelets in? We've never done that and it sounds interesting.

Mike

Mike,

You need to use the Ziploc Freezer bags. The regular kind are too thin and the hot water would melt them.

Make sure someone has a Sharpie so names can be written on the bags and you don't lose track of whose omelet's whose.

Kathy, the turkey fryer will be best for the omelets. When we did the omelets in August, the little stoves worked OK, but it's best to have the bigger burner to have the water reheat faster.

Jon

I'll make some sort of appetizer for both dinner meals!

I spoke with Vanessa tonight - they are in for whatever extra $ for the fire wood and the extra campsite IF we can get one....she will also bring a side dish for each dinner...not sure what, but it will be a surprise!

Told her about eggs and pancakes!!!!!!

Mike,

We’ve found that the freezer bags with the slide lock, like the Hefty OneZip work best, as opposed to the press seals. Besides the freezer bag, a can of PAM, or something similar, is need to spray the inside of the bag before adding the eggs and ingredients.

Most of the fun of bag omelets is making them

The turkey fryer is a good idea, thanks Kathy. Regular pots work well too – it just takes longer to cook. So it looks like between Kathy’s turkey fryer and all the other stoves & pots, we’ll be able to have many cooking stations going at the same time, which will help speed up the whole process.

The Nick's Lake Gang,

Thanks for all the work you have done planning and checking things out. By the looks of the thread we could stay for a week and not get it all done. We would be glad to chip in on wood or an extra site.
Let me know if you need anything special. I'll bring some Croghan Bologna and cheese for snacks.

Thanks again,

Harvey, Jan and Barney the dog.

Harvey,

Would that be Croghan bologna or Eddie's blolgna? Judy mentioned getting some from Eddie's. I'm sure that those that don't live in our area would enjoy either one.

Mike,

That would be Eddie's Bologna, it's the best. When are your going up to Nick's Lake. We can't leave until 4:00 on friday. Sounds like a lot of fun. I hope that the weather is good.

Hi everyone!

We'll be coming in Friday afternoon somewhere around four, and will bring some wood. No problem chipping in for the extra site, if that works out. Regarding Sat. nite meal, we can bring a side dish - pear salad sound ok? (We'll be leaving Sun. so we won't be around for Sun. nite meal.) As far as an activity, we'll bring our canoe and be flexible on the rest - we like the idea of River & Rail; wouldn't mind a hike either.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Doug & Lorie

P.S. We're new to this forum stuff - how does everyone get a picture of their trailer in the signature?

Tom,

We'll bring a different salad for each dinner. Judy makes a great broccoli salad and an Italian salad that is more like dessert. They're probably not good for my cholesterol, but it's a special occasion.

Harvey,

We'll be arriving on Thursday, hopefully around 6PM. We'll leave the bologna to you as you're right, Eddie's is the best.

Mike

To post pictures you first need to have your pictures on a web site, such as Photobucket, Webshots, or the Sunline Owners Club Photo Page.

I use Photobucket and like it. The SOC Photo Page has a small limit so you can't upload many pictures.

Within Photobucket you create your own account w/ password. You can create different photo albums to organize your pictures and it's easy to upload pictures. So far I haven't found a size limit.

Once you get your pictures onto a web site, JohnB posted some instructions on how to post pictures.

Posting a picture to your signature is similar to adding a picture to a post with some minor differenced.

Before uploading your signature picture to your web site, make sure the pic is really small, less than 20Kb in size. I have my pictures in Photobucket and resized my picture to the 160 x 63 Thumbnail size.

To add the picture to you signature:
Go to your profile and to the section where you edit your signature. Type in:

Here’s an example of what it should look like when you add an image to a post (i.e., without the blanks before and after the text):
“”

Note, the signature has a 255 character limit, which includes all the characters of your signature's picture filename and location.

Hope this helps
Hutch

Hutch,

Your Photobucket account probably has a 1 GB limit, unless you've paid money to upgrade it. To find your limit, sign in, click on "Account Options" (three to the left of "logout"), scroll down to the "Account Dashboard" section, and it should tell you the percentage of space you've filled up.

Hi, everyone...can't post much but I do read and keep up.
I was hoping to be able to join you all at this M&G, but it's not looking very good...the back pain that's been keeping me in physical therapy since August turns out to be a little more serious (herniated disc) than the docs originally thought. I was on minimal lifting restrictions, but now I'm on NO lifting, NO bouncing around on long drives, NO twisting.

Kind of makes loading and packing up the truck and the trailer a little more challenging and a lot riskier that I'd like it to be. Even though it's light, just the action of cranking up the tongue to hitch it up had me running for a hot pack. I'm afraid the only 'camping' they've let me do since August 1 is in her 'storage' spot in my sister's significant other's back field...a bit primitive, but at least I got to sleep in her!

But I'm already putting the spring outings on my calendar for next year, and I'm sure we'll catch each other somewhere. So have a good weekend for me!

(This gives me all winter to get my little Sunspot in tip-top shape...the docs haven't said I couldn't work on her, just that I'm not supposed to move her around too much!)

Hi, Sunlinesheri here. Just to let you know that Paul and I will bring a three-cheese baked ziti casserole for all to share at Saturday evening's Dinner. I just ordered another oven rack, so I should be able to make enough for all.
Regretably, we won't be able to stay for Sunday dinner as we'll be heading back home in the afternoon.
Looking forward to meeting you all. See ya soon!

As of right now, it looks like we'll have to pass on the Sunday meals. Our granddaughter's birthday party is Sunday afternoon in Penfield, NY, so we'll be packing up and heading out.

If something changes, and we don't head back on Sunday morning, we'll work out a dish to pass for the evening meal then.

Sorry for the short notice, but we just learned of the party a couple of hours ago.

See you all on Thursday (or Friday, depending on when you arrive... )
We're heading up there on Thursday morning.
