dover del trip

We are going to dover Del thur from Connecticut,Mapquest has us going in circles thur nyc?We are trying to avoid toll roads (jersey turnpike) and del merm bridge.Isnt there a route that woud be cheaper,SOME ONE SAID RT 40 BRIDGE RUNS RIGHT NEXT TO DEL BRIDGE? Any help folks?

The only way I know to avoid those two roads is to take 287 south, cut through somerset county and pick up route 1 south in South Brunswick. Take rt 1 to rt 95 south in Lawrenceville and then go through Philadelphia. Should not be too much traffic on Thursday depending on time. Then pick up rt 1 in Delaware. You won't hit a toll until then. Or pick up rt 13 in delaware and be completely toll free. I am also going to dover on thursday afternoon from South Brunswick.
