Coca-Cola 500 in Charlotte, NC

DW I are going to the Coca-Cola 500 in Charlotte, NC from Thursday, May 24 until Monday, May 28. This will be our 1st NASCAR Race with the TT. We'll be staying in Row I of the Rock City Camping area. Any other Sunline people going to be there? Anyone done this before? Any recommendations for things to do &/or see to make the experience even more memorable (besides attending the races themselves)? BTW - we did rent a Honda 2000i.

DH is leaving on Wednesday March 21st and heading to Bristol....unfortunately I don't get to go....after all someone needs to stay home and plow! And yes we had 8 inches of snow last night with 12 more expected throughout the day into Sunday morning!

We used to take our camper when we both went, but he now stays in a motel and enjoys his Nascar vacation!

Enjoy the experience, but bring ear plugs - the infield partying can get a bit loud!

My wife and I, along with one of my sons and his wife, are going to the race at Pocono in June. We're not taking the TT. We're going to NJ where they live, and heading to PA from there. They ordered the tickets, and I think the seats are in the first or second row by the start/finish line. Should be fun and LOUD!!!

If you have never been to Pocono - traveling from NJ - make sure you leave yourself enough travel time.....we used to drive in from Bergen County and it would take us at least 4 - 5 hours to reach the parking at the track, which is normally a 1 1/2 drive!

Our tickets where start/finish line ALL THE WAY UP TOP! We sat one row down from the spotters at June race and last row for July race...great times, great friends but after 15+ years we gave up the tickets.....we moved and too much of a hassle to get there now!

DH still goes to Bristol - stays over in Boone North Carolina and drives over an hour to get to the track, not to mention the trip down from Old Forge.......he is out plowing now and hoping it stops before he is supposed to leave on Wendesday! I think he goes just to get away from the snow up here!

The wife & I have never been to the races At Pocono. My son and daughter-in-law went last year. They already told us, be ready to get on the road at 6 A.M. to allow plenty of time. We lived in NJ until August of '06, when we moved to Maine, so, we still travel back quite often. We lived in Somerset County. We went to races at Flemington fairgrounds for many years when it was still a dirt track. We've had more than enough snow here in Maine, too. Can't wait for the warm weather so we can get the TT ready to go.
