2018 Adirondack Meet and Greet

Not good news. The DEC just announced that Nicks Lake will be closed after Labor Day 2018. I just confirmed this with the DEC regional office in Herkimer and looking 9 months out from today (Nov 21) in August the sites are about 50% taken already.

Need ideas.

Here's a list of campgrounds that we've come up with. Just something to think about.

Limekiln Campgrounds, Inlet, NY 271 sites, closes 9/3
Golden beach, Raquette Lake, NY 195 sites, closes 9/3
Eighth Lake, Inlet NY 126 sites, closes 10/8
Moffitt Beach, Speculator, NY 262 sites, closes 10/8 (we know who's favorite this is, LOL)
Fish Creek Campgrounds, Tupper Lake 352 sites closes 10/21

We hope we can keep it in the Adirondack's! for 2018 Steve

Oh no ! Just reading this. You know we have plans and were going to miss out on Nick's Lake this coming year, but we still feel sad. So many fun times there. Hope something can be worked out.

IIRC they only close the first loop that early? We are going to be there in August for about 10 days.

Just got on the SUNLINE Club site and saw the Bad news. Mir and I look forward to seeing you all each year. We don't want to set it end because of DEC. We're open to anything. Would like to book some more trips soon.

Well I’m not happy with this - the website shows that it is open after Labor Day.....

So our choices are
8th Lake
Moffett
Fish creek

We’ve been to fish creek - And not overly thrilled with the size & closeness of the sites.

Guess we will need to reach out to everyone & see what the feelings are.....

Here's some ideas, let's see if we can settle on one:

Make the trip to Robert Moses our M&G around 6/15 to 6/21.
Many already attending. I see openings for that time.

Join the Western NY M&G on 9/14.
Already established.

Meet at Moffitts in Speculator on 9/21 or 9/7.
May be limited to 30', strict on non occupied sites

I vote for Fish Creek just because i already have the hat that says FISH CREEK on it.

I find sites available Sept 6 around 95 to 102 for 30' and 40'. We will be making reservations for site 100 starting Labor Day weekend.

We have to check - fish Creek needs a 3 nite minimum & we aren’t sure we can do 3 nites!
We definitely can’t do Thursday & I have to be in work Monday morning for payroll tax returns!��

We will be off to Myrtle Beach around that time and then to Western NY M&G later in Sept. Will be seeing everyone before that though so it's all good !!
