The heart of Civil War territory is also close by.....Gettysburg, Antietum, Harpers Ferry, are all within an hour or so ride.

+1 on Lancaster area........Denver, PA was the home of our Sunlines!!

Lots of nice campgrounds in both areas to do a couple of days before/after.

Thumbs up

Folks......

AAAGH! I've been overwhelmed by all this upbeat nostalgia, and just added Thursday night to my Friday and Saturday night reservations.

Hi everyone,
42 days and counting!
I wanted to give an update on my post surgery progress. Surgery was on 4/19, I am pain free at this time with some hardware in my foot. I am in a soft cast until next week and then a hard cast will be put on. Unfortunately I will still be in this cast for the Meet & Greet. I have arranged for a golf cart during my stay which will help me get around. I will be non-weight bearing during this time and will rely on my skooter or walker to get around.
I am still planning to have the cake and coffee social at my site (Park Model) next to site 136. All other activities will be hosted by members who have volunteered. I will be posting sign ups for these in the near future. Start to think about what you want to bring for the Happy Hour BYOB with munchies, Potluck dinner, Chinese Grab bag, and goodies for the give and take table.
I will be bringing the Sunline banner to this event, maybe Kathy and Leo can bring theirs also. If anyone has any Sunline Memorabilia or pictures from previous gatherings that they would like to display, please bring these with you.
I can't wait to see everyone and meet our newest attendees.

Since this will be my first time, can you be specific about what is required for the Chinese Grab bag, and goodies for the give and take table.?

Thanks!

I'll make the signs and posting about the Give & Take Table . Timing seems to work best after Saturday's pot luck. People can finish eating and go back to their campers for their give away goods. Also, that way we aren't tying up a table during dinner.

Good luck with the surgery!

Do you have any suggestions for campgrounds for the Civil War area? I did a quick search and most seemed rather expensive. Any nice state parks?

Thanks
Joan

Hi Joan,
The give n take table is set up to put items on that you wish to share with others. People can take what they need and give what they no longer need. Items on this table are free for the taking.
The Chinese grab bag is an event which you bring a gift, $15 value, wrapped in a plain brown bag. Everyone gets a number to participate. By number, your to choose a gift. Once you open this gift, the next person can choose a gift from the table or steal yours. This game proceeds until all gifts are taken. If alot of stealing goes on, this game can be so much fun.
I will be asking people to sign up for events sometime in May. You will receive a packet on arrival with a schedule of our events.
I hope this answers your questions. I look forward to meeting you in June.

We stayed at Gettysburg Campground one year and it was nice. We prefer the electric/water sites - better spacing than the full hook up sites.
I'd avoid Drummer Boy unless you like lots of highway noise.
The closest state park would be Caledonia. It's probably 20 minutes from Gettysburg. We've never stayed there, but most of our state parks are great.

We liked Artillery Ridge at Gettysburg.

There is a KOA and a Jellystone near Antietam.

Don't have much on State Parks in the area, but both MD and PA have nice parks.

State parks we have stayed at that are good and not far from the Civil war areas of Gettysburg are:
Caledonia, Codorus, Pine Grove Furnace and Gifford Pinchot.

Sorry to say, but we have had to change our plans and must cancel our Buttonwood trip. We are hopeful that we will be there next year. Have a great time, everyone! We had reserved site #59 in case someone is looking for a campsite.

Haha the days of packing bins of stuff are very much behind me! I'll bring a few things though, but mostly wearables.

Bringing the lighted sign would be pretty sweet, but it's just so large and I don't have a good way to display. Plus I'd be really worried about it falling over and breaking.

Robin & Steve,
Sorry to hear that you won't be able to attend. Hope you can make it next year.

Hi Everyone,

Only 16 days to go! I am looking forward to seeing everyone. I have been busy getting all the welcome packets printed and put together. I am including the Sunline Group sign for you to display in your RV window, the list of activities planned, a list of all attendees with site numbers and names, also any name tags that have been requested.

If there is anything else you would like me to add to the packet, please let me know soon so I can have enough time to work on it.

Please remember to post when you know what your bringing to the pot luck dinner.

Can anyone else lead the bike ride on Sunday? Steve will not be able to do it this year. If there is no one to lead, the event will be cancelled.

Does anyone want to bring some games for Sunday? For those staying through Monday, we could gather late morning in the tent to play. Looking for suggestions please.

Sorry we have to miss all the fun this year but we are on vacation in the Midwest for all of June.

Plan on attending the NY M&G in September.
