We camped for a week at Watkins Glen SP two years ago and the gorge is absolutely stunning with waterfalls going over the rock walls. We highly recommend it for that alone. The campground itself was, in our opinion, not as well run as we have become used to in other state campgrounds, make sure you cover all the details when you make reservations.
We rode our bikes in the town and on a very nice trail (Catherine valley trail Catharine Valley Trail - NYS Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation) that runs from the high school and goes through Montour Falls where there are more waterfalls to see. It goes further than that, but we didn't bike the entire length.
We also visited the racetrack where NASCAR was doing a test and tune for an upcoming race. That was fun.
We like to kayak, and there are many places for that.
The wineries like Tom said are all around the area of Seneca lake and we just happened upon the Navy and Air Force museum at Sampson SP up on the east side of the lake.

Our names are Robin and Steve.
It sounds like you have a number of good events. We don't plan to bring our kayaks. Will they be available to rent? We'll look for the information and sign up.

Thanks.

Agree - it's been too long since SunlineFan and parents were at Buttonwood.
It would be great to see all of them again.

Ditto on the campground. A few things happened to make us wonder if anyone was policing the park at night. Also, we found it a very tight fit to back between the trees to our site ( Tom is excellent at backing up the camper, not a novice!). The folks in the site across from us had to move their vehicle so we could drive forward into their site's entrance and get backed into ours. We like the very simple town park, Clute, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake in the village. Likely will stay over there a day or two on our way back from Buttonwood this year.

I'm in! Don't have a site number yet, didn't request a specific one, but I'll try to find out from Nancy once the reservation is confirmed.

Thanks Rich, I'm very much looking forward to heading back and seeing everyone again as well. I'd like to extend the trip and take her home to Lancaster County before the M&G, but I guess that'll depend on my vacation time. I'm long overdue for a Shady Maple visit too.

Hi Kathy,

I've looked around and haven't been able to find our old name tags. I know I still have them (I never throw anything away...), just a matter of finding them. I'll keep looking and let you know if I do. But in case...yes 3, Dave, Jill, and Jon.
