Camping Gear Needed:
  • Canopies for over picnic tables: Keech – will you be coming this year?
  • Lantern for picnic tables, Friday night Cracker-barrel, LP or liquid fuel

If anyone would like to help and co-organize this M&G, help would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks for the reminder, just booked 47. This reminded us about Labor day and it's already too late for Sacandaga where we always go, all booked! Time flies.

It's difficult looking out at the camper covered in snow to think about the last weeks of the camping season for 2014 already.

I was planning on a trip to NY in early October, but it would be fun to meet some folks from this board. Just in case, what campground are you referring to?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom, the lake is called Nicks Lake in Old Forge NY northwest of Albany. Beautiful place, Kathy's home stomping grounds. This will be our 3d time going there. Hope to see you there. Chuck.

Thank you Chuck,
I lived in Upstate NY for my first 36 years. I love the Adirondacks and know Old Forge pretty well. My wife (Southern girl) was completely blown away by the beauty of the drive from Norwich to Old Forge. We may see you there.
Tom

And a well kept secret! Most people from outside the state think New York State is one big city. If we let it be known we'd never get reservations in Old Forge or anywhere in the Adirondacks again.Shhhhhhhhhhh!

Campgrounds and Camping Reservations - ReserveAmerica, Loop C is the loop your looking for. This should help you pick your site. Nicks Lake Campsite Photo Database

Oh that is easy - go to Reserve America - and book a site - if you look at last years M&G you will see who was on what site - we are in Loop C - Nick's Lake Campground is a state park - no utilities - they do have water throughout the park and a dump site as well.

We all share in the cost of the camp fee for the M&G site and on Friday we gather by a fire and get to know everyone - Saturday night we have a potluck dinner.....sometimes we have organized things we do - depending on weather (ie kayak trip or hike around the lake). Hope you can join us!

I was wrong. We asked for reservations including Monday Labor day and what appeared as full is actually closed. Only 10% of he campsite is actually reserved that weekend. It closes on Labor day this year as does many others !!!

We're lucky Nicks Lake is open for us.

Actually, as we look around, campsites don't seem to be booked as much in advance as we usually find. Many still quite empty in June and July. Am I missing something?

See my thread under Campground reviews, Northeast.

Thanks for the input. Mir and I reserved site #51 loop C. I think that's it for our dance card for summer 2014. Memorial weekend we'll be at Washington State Park in RI. July 20th we"ll be at Lake St Catherine State Park Vt for the week. We'll finish out the season with you at Nick's Lake NY in September. We're thinking about maybe sleeping by the beach at Horseneck in Mass but that all depends on if our long time friends are going.

We look forward to meeting you all

Vic & Mir
