2010 Buttonwood Kayak/Canoe Trip

Annual Buttonwood Canoe & Kayak Trip

I contacted Buttonwood and confirmed that they will be holding places for Saturday at 2pm for the SOC members to take the trip.

Nancy reccomended that members contact Buttonwood directly at their office to make reservations for the trip.

Do you know which trip we're taking? Last year we ended at Buttonwood, but the previous year we started there.

Did Buttonwood happen to mention which trip we're taking?

Hi Fellow Floaters,

I just got off the phone with Buttonwood to confirm a spot for our canoe livery for the float trip. They did not know which trip we were planning to do, and said they needed to contact Lowell to get the final answer. However, they stated that starting from up-river was easier for them. This would be more convienient for them since we probably would arrive down-river at different times depending on our paddling rate. We are looking forward to another fun time at the 2010 Buttonwood-Sunline M&G. See you there.

Thanks for asking them! I agree that starting up river is easier, not only for them but for us as well. The first year we started at the campground and went down river, and at the end we ended up waiting a VERY long time for them to be able to transport us. However I did think the first year had prettier scenery, so it's a tossup.

We would do both sections, but there isn't enough time before the potluck dinner.

Depends how you define scenery...

When I talked to Nancy, I mentioned to her that the group taking the trip would be better suited to decide which route you would like to take. I'm sure that if you decide which way you would like to go, they would be more than happy to comply. Maybe set up a poll to get the result?

Don't know that I'm doing the river this year, BUT if I was, I'd rather put in up stream and float down to the campground, that way you don't have to sit around waiting to get picked up by the van, you can just walk across the road to your camper.

Having done both the upstream trip and the downstream trip, I agree with Kitty. The logistics are much easier then you start upstream.

We don't care either way, but the upper section does make things easier.

I'll call Buttonwood tomorrow and tell them that you would like to take the trip floating down to the CG.
