The wheels are starting to turn in what should be a great weekend for everyone. It is really neat to see everyone getting packed up and counting down their hours to departure to Buttonwood from all parts of the east coast and midwest. An early thanks to Hutch and everybody else that has gotten us to this point in our trek to Mexico.

1 more day of school tomorrow, then home to pack a few things and hopefully down rt. 35 by 6:00- 6:30 with the 195 SR. Looking forward to a Thursday night smudgie with the earlybirds. Have a safe trip all.

Tire Man Reporting in....

Well the rig is all packed. And the tires.....

The good news is they did not drop the truck.... However, I tried to make sure I reminded them on all the little things most where done except a few key towing ones.

The bay that mounted the tires only had a 60 psi air hose setup for some reason. It then went on the alignment machine and came off ready to go. The mechanic said as he was leaving they had to move it and top off the tires. I told the guy 65psi front, 75 psi rear. Yup got it, and off he went. I paid the damages… and went to get the truck. Walked around and looked, good news, the dates where from Feb 09. YES!! They did what they said they would. I saw the guy who mounted the tires and asked what he torque’ed the lug nuts to, He said 150 ft lb and his arm was sore. Good they got that right and they put in the high pressure valve stems I requested. What about tire pressure? Yes we topped that off to. OK cool. It all works.

Well almost. Came home and looked under the truck. You have to be kidding me…. They put the spare with the new tire on valve stem “up”. Oh great…So before I buried the crank back behind the rear seat, I dropped the tire and flipped it over, valve stem down. Hoe do they ever expect anyone to check the pressure in the spare? They where not thinking all I can say.

H’mm I better check this pressure. 50psi errrr. On this truck that is a problem being that low. So I turned on the compressor and air’ed it up to 75. Man that spare is glued to the concrete…. . I wrestled with it and finally got the cable on to help get the weight off it and going up in the carrier. These 18” are really beastly. Any one with the 20” option needs to start eating Wheaties now… .

H’mm I better check the other tires. Yup sure enough. Front at 60 rear at 65. So I aired them up to 65 and 75. Since I am the one responsible the minute I pull out on the road, you just have to check this stuff your self.

Hopefully the events in our travels are over and smooth sailing all the way to Buttonwood.

Have a safe trip everyone.

John

PS Time until launch now about 7 to 8 hours.

All packed up here too. Planning on a 5:00 A.M. departure, which puts us to Buttonwood mid-to-late afternoon, assuming all goes well.

I am tired from washing everything today. The coach looks the best it ever has, but I see we might hit some rain tomorrow. Figures. Oh well, the black streaks were so bad that I needed to do something. I didn't even bother with tire shine because I figure that's probably an invitation for the rain...which isn't the wet look I intended!

Just have to hook up and we're out of here, but first, I think I should go get some sleep...

Everyone, have a safe and uneventful trip.

I'm off to hook-up the trailer and a few last minute things and hopefully be on the road in a little bit.

Safe travels everyone, see you (the Thursday arrivers) this afternoon.

Hutch

We should be shoving off from home at around noon, which makes our arrival time at Buttonwood around 1:30. I'm just about ready to go, but I guess I should wait for the DW to get home from work. She took a half day, but I have plenty of vacation time to burn so I took the whole day. See you soon.

I had a bit of a problem at work, so our departure has been delayed until early tomorrow AM. We should be rolling into Buttonwood at around noon on Friday. We're pretty much loaded up and the new tires are on the coach so we should be hitting the road at about 4 AM. See you all tomorrow!

Unfortunately, we are going have to cancel at the last minute.

My late mother-in-law's dog got out of the house yesterday and is M.I.A , of course, we need to stay home and look for him.

Sorry to hear about the dog getting loose. That is one of my greatest fears. I hope that all ends well and the dog makes it home safely, good luck.

Unfortunately, we also had to cancel last night.

Kathy twisted her knee and is trying to get into the doctor to get it checked out.

The good news is we found the dog

The bad news is he was in the pound

The worse news is the $500.00 bill has wiped out the discretionary income and killed the rest of our camping trips for June.

Animal Control was $100 in fines and fees. The mandatory trip to the vet was almost another $400. He's 15 years old and has some skin allergies.

Have fun this weekend, and don't let the campfire get out of hand.

Kitty wanted everybody to post a "Home safe and sound message" upon arrival home. Well we made it home safe and sound without any issues this time. Mandy and I had a great time and definately look forward to seeing friends old and new next year. Wishing everyone else a safe trip, Lowell and Mandy.

Back home and the trip went very well. I'm sure by next year I'll have the (correct) route memorized. Barbara and I had a very nice time and look forward to next year's meet. This is a great group of people and it's a real plus to get together for R&R with those you communicate with during the year! This years activities were lots of fun and we couldn't have asked for better weather (especially Sunday!)
