2009 Buttonwood M&G Volunteers Needed

Ok, I know it’s early and the Buttonwood M&G is still ~4 months away, but with my work schedule , thinking about getting the trailer de-winterized and ready for the season , and of course camping , I figure I better get a jump on organizing and coordinating this year’s Buttonwood M&G.

We’re still looking for volunteers for:

Helpers for Sunday Morning’s Bag Omelet Breakfast – this will involve helping to set up the Turkey Fryers (filling & lighting) & tables around 8am so the water is hot by 8:30. Also includes helping & monitoring the bag omelet cooking.
Turkey Fryers for Sunday Morning’s Bag Omelet Breakfast – people to bring Turkey Fryers to use for the Sunday morning Bag Omelet Breakfast. I anticipate we’ll need 3 – 4 Turkey Fryers. So if anyone has a Turkey Fryer and is able & willing to bring it to the M&G to use Sunday morning, it would be appreciated.
Fire Wood – people to bring fire wood for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday night fires.
Fire Marshals – volunteers to be fire marshals for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday night fires, responsibilities will be to light, monitor, and maintain the fire.

For all the individuals that have already volunteered to help, thank you very much
This M&G would not be what it is with out all your help and effort. I will be contacting you over then next few months to plan and finalize this year’s activities.

If anyone has any questions, you may contact me via PM.
Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone in June.
Hutch

P.S. I will be posting information and sign-ups for the various M&G activities in the April / May time frame.

I'd be more than happy to bring my turkey fryer. It usually resides in the coach basement during camping season anyway.

I can help with the campfire.
Does PA allow transfer of firewood. Around here they have restricted movement of firewood. If not I can bring some.

Dave,

Thanks for volunteering to help with a campfire.
Would you prefer any particular night, Fri., Sat., or Sun.?

I believe PA has followed other states in discouraging transporting of firewood into PA from other states.
Therefore, I would suggest that you do not bring any firewood with you.
Hopefully, some of the PA attendees will be able to bring some firewood.

Thanks again for offering to help.

Hey Hutch,
You can put me down for 1 Turkey Fryer and can help organize the set up Sunday morning.
I can also bring a short stack of wood. Unlike some of you guy's with the monster trucks I need to watch my GVW. (Of course if the driver wasn't so big, I could bring more wood )

We always have fire wood with us. We also have kindling to get the fire started. If a few people bring a little, there should be plenty. Do we really need someone in charge of the fire? If we stock pile some wood, anyone who's at the fire can just add some wood as needed.

Stock piling the wood by the fire pit is an excellent idea, thanks for the suggestion.

Everyone that is volunteering to bring firewood, let's stock pile it by the fire pit near the group tent area. Mike and I will be there Thursday, so we'll get the pile started. When you arrive and have time, just add to the pile.

I would still like to have someone responsible for starting the fire each night. This would be one less thing that I need to worry about or do.
After that, I agree people around the fire can maintain it themselves.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
This is truely a group effort.
Hutch

Dan & Deb,

Thanks for the offer to bring firewood - I've added you to the donor list

Glade you're coming to the M&G, looking forward to meeting all of you.
I sent you a PM asking for some additional information.

Thanks
Hutch

I have a strange feeling that brother Ghettomedic and I will end up being happy to build fires...we're both Eagle Scouts- of COURSE we'll play with fire (er.... build fires.....). I will try to hand-select some wood to smuggle in if it's not TOO discouraged.

I'm also usually up rather early, and would be happy to help with morning setups, it'll give me something productive to do rather than lie in bed bored...

Poor Man Campin'
Hey Hutch;

Put me down for firewood and one night to start the fire, if needed. That's about all I'll be good for this year. DW will have her hands full with the Twins and a 4 year old that wants the answer to every question that starts with "Who, What, Where, When and Why?"
