OK, We'll bring something for dessert. Don't know exactly what it'll be right now but probably fall related like apple crisp, pumpkin buckle...Of course a glass of red wine will go well with this type of dessert so we'll bring that. Judy will also bring a new yummy cocktail to compete with Doug's Captain Morgan Long Island Iced Tea. Game's on, Doug. We have friends that might also come although they're not Sunline owners.
Mike

Saturday dinner
Steve,
We'll bring some sort of cake (probably pistachio nut/chocolate cake). Sounds weird but it is really good.
Also, put us down for attending the Sunday breakfast. We'll be leaving on Sunday but reserved Sunday night so we can stay into the afternoon.
From the looks of your weather report maybe we can all go sledding for a group activity. I'm sure that we can improvise and use the canoes and kayaks for tobaggans.
Mike,
I'm not sure that there is any competition for Long Island Iced Tea but am looking forward to trying Judy's new concoction.
See everyone next week. I'm looking foward to it no matter what the weather is.
Doug

Hutch, I have 64oz of Mrs. Butterworth... I think we have enough for everyone 3 times....
It will be a "Sweet Weekend"
Steve
I have a LP stove and griddle as well. For clean up, I have large washing tubs that live in the camper and large pots to heat water for dish washing and make coffee in. Plus a Igloo drink cooler for the coffee. I'll bring the pots to mix the batter in and make coffee and clean up water in.
However if someone in the group has one of those 35,000 BTU large cast iron burners it would help to heat the water. My smaller 12 K BTU stove takes over 40 minutes alone to boil that large pot where the big burner does it in about 20 minutes.
Anyone in the group have one of those large burners?
3 more nights left to get everything done before we leave this Saturday...
Can't wait.
John

That's always been on my "I want one" list but other things keep moving to the head of the "honeydo" or the "fix me now" list.
We have 4 dish pans and, besides the two burner propane stove and big Calphalon griddle, there's also a Coleman Road Trip grille with all the different cook tops including two griddles.
For plenty of hot water, we can just stroll down the hill to the shower building and draw all we want. There's a big outside sink and the building is maybe 40 yards from the group site. The shower building is only two years old, and is one of the nicest I've ever seen in any campground anywhere.

For wash water, we can hoof it to the shower etc. We will overcome not a problem. After breakfast there is lots of time for us. We are not leaving until Monday AM.
And yes, some day I will get one of those large burners too..... Maybe I need to start dropping some hints to Santa.....
Thanks

Either way, we should be fine. After all, campers are highly resourceful; lemonade makers if you will.

I have a three-way propane splitter - the top of it is where the propane lantern sits. Also there's a two-way and several hoses. We'll be good for propane stuff.
I already packed extra filters and coffee in the trailer. I figured with the cooler weather, we'll likely have a pot on quite a bit of the time. Hot chocolate and tea, too.

We're booked until Monday as well. One thought would be to bring hot water up from the shower building and then keep it hot on one of the stoves. Just more lemonade....

All we need is the propane burner, hose and regulator. Have pot, no heat.
And yes many people cook turkeys, clams, prawns, corn on the cob, etc in this.
5 miuntes away..... We are not quite that close....
Looking foward to this.

Got our reserveamerica.com preregistration notice this morning for the M&G.
If you haven't camped in a NYS campground (DEC or Parks & Recreation), the preregistration seems to work pretty well. When we checked into another park this summer, we were only at the booth for a couple of minutes. It took them more time to give us the bear warning paperwork than it did to check in.
Time to start the ol' check list...

OK it's set, were going for the Hat Trick!
Buttonwood, Western NY, and now ADK! I'm like a bad penny....I keep showing up! We are excited to see the ADK's in the fall, hopefully there will be alot of color left!?
Anyways, we resereved site #37 for Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
In attendance will be myself, my wife (Sandy), and our daughter (Shannon), and possibily a friend of Shannons'...TBD. For all you western NY M&G attendees...we are sending the grumpy teenager to the Russian front for the weekend!!!
We would like to participate in Saturdays dinner. We'll bring homemade Chili and a dessert of some sort. Also count us in for Sundays pancake breakfast, not sure what we'll contribute yet, maybe some bacon and/or sausage, but we'll bring something to contribute. I may be able to borrow a very large propane 2 burner for the large pots...I'll post if I get it.
Does anyone know if we'll recieve cell phone coverage (Verizon) in the park?

Joe, we are so glad you folks will be there!
DW says she believes that Verizon isn't very good in the park. That's from a year ago, so it may be improved at this point. Kathy may know better. It's real good down in the village, just a couple of miles away.
OK here's the update on attendees and Saturday's Smorgasboard. In site number order:
37 - Joe & Sandy & Shannon - Homemade Chili & more dessert
38 - Gail & Steve - cheese board, chips & dip, mushroom dip on bruschetta
44 - Lorie & Doug - Dessert - Cake for Dessert
45 - Kathy & Leo - Shepard's Pie (beef)
47 - Sheri & Paul - Chicken (or pork) in wine sauce
50 - Cindy & John - Zuchinni casserole
52 - Judy & Mike - Dessert - something for the season & Judy's new coctail concoction!
55 - Mary & Tom - Mary's Potatoes
?? - Kathy & Frank - Baked Ziti (probably with meatballs or sausage)

Joe And Sandy.
Glad you can come. Have to exchange some quality yak time on your camper mods and I want to look at the way your slide is built if you do not mind. Seems in the 2005 and forward models they changed things from the way mine is made. Have not yet been able to figure out all the exact differences. We now have 4 slide campers coming. Cool!
For us we are now in count down mode. Leaving home this Saturday AM early. 37 hours and counting, tic toc, tic toc….
Looking forward to seeing you again.
John

You guys have fun for us, we got our 05 Dodge 2500 diesel but we're heading down to TN with it and the camper to browse around for a new place to live.
We'll catch you guys at the spring meet and greet or sometime before then.
Have a safe fun camping trip!

I will be bringing a 25k btu single burner, a large lobster pot, propane, and all the hoses, so if we need it I'll have it in the truck.
Steve, thank you for the warm welcome!
JohnB, yes you can look at the slide or anything you like. In exchange I want to see what you have been building, woodworking!

Hi everyone,
We were at the WNY M&G and had such a good time and met so many great people that we decided we would come to the Adirondack M&G as well.
We are booked into site 53 for Friday and Saturday nights. We expect to be there early to mid afternoon on the Friday.
We are newby campers and this will be our first real camping trip with no hookups (tried it once in a provincial park but we were half hour from home there and went home twice a day to feed the cat, so if we forgot anything or needed anything, it was quite easy to fetch).
We don't have any of the stoves and lanterns that you are all discussing so we can't really contribute anything in that capacity. We are trying to figure out what to bring for the pot luck. Being dessert lovers ourselves we are leaning that way, but since there seems to be a lot of desserts would others prefer that we bring a dish like macaroni instead? Any thoughts on this?
We want to thank Doug and Mike for all of their help planning a route for us and encouraging us to come. And Tom was very supportive as well. They all made us feel quite welcome and we truly appreciate it.
We are looking forward to meeting you all next week.

John & Kim,
This is just EXCELLENT! If Mike and Doug and Tom have been helping you, you are in fine hands. I am so happy you can join us.
As for a dish to pass, you're right, we pretty much have dessert covered. Someone is bringing ziti with meatballs or sausage, but a second pasta dish, perhaps with an alfredo sauce would be good. (I'm presuming the ziti dish with meat will have a tomato sauce of some kind.)
Don't worry about the stoves and lanterns, etc. We've pretty much got that taken care of twice over.
If you haven't dry camped before, you might want to think about flashlights, battery lamps, etc. It's autumn now, and it gets dark early in the park due to the tall trees.
Also, if you've got a generator, this is the place for it. If not, Mike is on one side of you and Tom on the other, and they both have them if you need a battery charge. If you have a 100' extension cord, bring it. The sites at Nicks Lake are large and spaced apart a bit.
It's supposed to be pretty cool at night, but the current forecast isn't as cold as we expected. Blankets, cool weather clothing, full propane tanks. You'll be good.
