Looks like we'll have plenty of whatever we might need to weather the weekend...

BTW, generators are limited to 9-11 am and 4-7 pm, but within those hours, very useful. Wife likes having the microwave available. We've got a Honda 2 KW with us as well.

As of today, we're leaning towards bringing dessert:
Gail's Raspberry Brownies Supreme - a very large batch of 'em!

We just got back from 8 days at 8th Lake CG and had great weather and a wonderful time. The leaves are already starting to turn so there should be a lot of colors when we get to Nick's. It sounds like we'll have enough tarps to cover the whole loop if necessary. Judy will make Dinosaur BBQ baked beans for Saturday's dinner but unfortunately has to leave Sunday morning for a business trip. You'll still have to put up with me for the rest of Sunday and Monday though. We're looking forward to seeing those who were there last year and meeting this years new participants. Once again, take a lot of pictures for this years video. See you on the 26th.

Mike

Just a reminder - we are only 5 minutes from Nick's so if we find that we need something a trip home is not out of the question!

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it's already time for our fall get together. To say it has been a fast summer is an understatement. We'll make deviled eggs and a creamsicle salad for our communal dinner.

We'll be arriving Wednesday afternoon but will have to leave on Sunday. If we get out of our site by 11 does anyone know if we can park down at the beach so we can stay into the afternnon?

Doug

I am pretty sure that your camping permit expires all together at 11 AM. You might be able to pay the "day use" fee for Sunday, leave the trailer in the beach parking lot (or where ever they want you to park it), and hang out until you're ready to leave. I guess you'd have to ask to be sure. If you want to find out in advance, the phone number at the park office is 315-369-3314.

See you in just a couple of weeks!

Steve,
You're correct about the day use and park the trailer, we've asked. They used to let you just stay sometimes but rangers have told us recently that they are audited sometimes and can't allow it anymore. On this trip and most other trips we take to state campsites, we pay for one extra night. The difference between the cost of a day use and the additional night is worth it to us not to have to rush out. This is especially true staying within an hour or so from home, we don't generally leave until 5 or 6pm sometimes. It also eliminates the line at the dumping station. Now, if we're paying $40 or $50 per night at a private site, that's another story.

This is our first M&G. What I glean from the site is that we will have a potluck supper on Saturday night and that we are to bring our own meat, cooked I assume. We plan to bring a warm green bean and tomato dish and a desert for passing.

For breakfast on Sunday I'll make a stove top sausage/vegetable frittata.

Is this appropriate?

We plan to leave from the M&G for Seattle, WA, and will not be carrying much in the way of support materials for the event though we do carry a small generator.

Thank you,

Norm & Ginny Milliard

Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be plenty.

Looking foward to meeting you both.

Norm,

Last year, we had several stoves and grilles plus the camp fire going and most of us did our meat cooking at the group site. The camp fires have a cooking platform on them so even steaks or burgers can be done over a wood fire pretty quickly.

It's a great social time for all of us.

Looking forward to meeting you and Ginny.

Just a couple of reminders to everyone:

1. Kathy made the reservations for Site 54 to be used as a group site. We'll be setting up a large shelter there, and moving several picnic tables to it as well. Group meals, group social, and camp fire will be held there. It can be whatever we collectively need it to be. We have the site for Friday and Saturday. Each couple should give Kathy $5 to cover the site rental as soon as you can.

2. I still need to hear from a few of you what you'll be bringing to the pot luck dinner on Saturday evening so we'll all know what dishes will be available.

3. There are still two sites available in C Loop for the weekend if anyone is still interested in joining us.

4. If anyone is thinking about coming in a day or more earlier or staying later, the park is pretty much wide open this time of year, and most of the sites in C Loop are not reserved for the days on either side of your current reservations.

See you all next week!

Since it looks like the weather will be on the cooler side, we will be bringing a big pot of chicken and dumpling soup. What are we doing for firewood? We have lots of wood, but being from Pa. we aren't supposed to bring it to NY. Also, do they have a place to fill the water tank or do you just use one of the spigots in the loop?

Soup sounds great!

Last year, I think we got a bunch of wood through one of the local vendors that Kathy knows. We can do that again this year, and split the cost. Again, probably only a few dollars per couple will get us a bunch of wood.

There is a fill station for drinking water at the recycling/trash station. It'll be on your left before you get to C Loop. Pull in the first entrance, and the spigot should be on the driver's side. That one does have a garden hose threaded fitting on it.

There are also spigots all around the loop. One is right across the road from your site (3 and if memory serves, I was able to reach it with 75' of hose. You'll need a water thief as they don't put threaded faucets on the spigots. Sometimes I get lazy, and just use my 6 gallon jerry can to keep enough water in the tank.

Mike,

I will have extra water hoses and a water thief with me if you need them and want to fill up at your site after you arrive.
